Can you gurus advise which of these lights is the most light for the money?. Can you also provide current going rates for the listed lights??

M910A I realize same light different mounting system
M500B Same light different head
M600 Scout light w/ 7" tape switch and thumb-screw mount

Also, what color LEDs do you recommend? I was thinking red but please let me know what you like.

I'd also like information on Surefire's new rail fore-ends. I assume they're good if Surefire makes them but does anyone have any experiences with them? Also, what is the current going rate for the M73 M4/CAR rail?

Thank you much,

Of all of those I would only pick the M600. I'll sell you an M900A if you want one

M900As are over $500. I loved everything about mine except the 20 oz weight. WIth the new Larue lever I would also get the 910 but I had the 900 and prefer the throw lever convenience to a standard 910 with thumbscrews.

M600 is a 35-40m light
M900A and M500A are 75m lights
M900B and M500B are 100m lights

I like the option of low level LED light to navigate. It helps save night vision and not trip over stuff.

I like white LEDs. I have used a lot of colored LEDs and I HATE not being able to tell the difference in colors. None of the LEDs will have a noticable effect on night vision that the others will not. Blue is not better for seeing blood than white. I will never ever own a non LED light or non WHITE LED light ever again.

The LEDs of the M900 and M500 will illuminate if they get wet and stay lit for a few hours till they dry. I like sealed LED systems that wont light up unless I want em to.

I switched to Gladius which is a 50m LED light (light is now white instead of yellow and no more busted bulbs to worry about) and has low level navigating capability built in. It does not turn itself on when wet, has a neato strobe light setting, and tells you when the batteries are running low. Oh yeah its also regualted, runs longer than the incandecent lamps and does not dim as it runs out of juice.

It is the best light evah evah! It sells for $200-235.

I do have to wonder why you are looking at the M500 series if you want a Surefire rail. Its an either or proposition. You should be looking a the Millenium 6 and 9 volt weapon lights to mount to the rail instead.

Not a "guru," but I love the M500A, and would not suggest getting the newer version with the nav lights.

Damn things interfere with about every reasonable sling mount known to man.

If you can find an older version without the nav lights, they rock!

Does anyone know where to get the best deal on a Surefire M962 and mount? I've been looking.

Any vendor should be able to order one. I don't know who stocks them though. My preference is for the tailcap with the tape switch and the thumb switch. I like options.

EDIT: Thats my setup above (except for the LaRue mount).
