Hello all,
My IT guy (Jeff) is telling me that we have officially switched over to our new website. But I have had some issues with it pertaining to cookies, footprints, whatever. Would you please do me a big favor and go to www.laruetactical.com for a just moment and tell me if there are any issues with it operationally. This is also works to introduce you to the upgraded LaRue site. I would like to take this moment and says thanks to mfingar for his photography prowess, thank you sir. :-) Let me know with a simple "yes" if all is well, and a "no" with details if you have issues. Thanks in advance, Mark LaRue P.S. Mods, I hope this isn't "breaking protocol", please bear with me if it is. |
This isn't one of those cheesy "Let's name the new La Rue website" is it?
Looks like it works. |
Works fine for me, transfer was a bit slow on the main page (after you click through the front page). You might want to consider making the right side of the page a separate frame.
No, its already called www.laruetactical.com. |
Thanks, Jeff read your comment. |
How? By buying MORE gear from you? I see how you work! |
The photos on the main page that "scroll" below the welcome look gritty in my Firefox browser.
Mr. Larue,
http://stores.homestead.com/Laruetactical/Detail.bok?no=61 You sell a 11.0 handgaurd w/o the goose neck? I'd assume that covers the mid-length gas system gas block? Because if it does, thats just plain awesome. eta- whats the weight of the 11.0 w.o. the goose neck? |
Its a GIF file which is limited to 256 colors normally. It could be fixed using an MNG file (which may not work for everyone) or a flash file or java script which should work for most people. -Foxxz |
We had enough requests and it's no big deal to us, so we added it to the catalog and are making the first few now. Don't expect to sell many, just doing as we're told. Mark |
I noticed that as well using IE. Everything works and loads fast. |
First time reading through the menu, did anybody else think they were saying "Caps, Shirts, and Dildos" and get extremely weirded out? I mean, LT makes pretty much everything...
Other than that, I like the new site, and it worked fine for me (I'm using firefox). |
Ribbed, for her pleasure ? |
Tried to view the installation instructions for the 7.0 handguard and the page came up... Error 404 the requested page does not exist.
Only problem found so far, ok back to shopping |
Here's what Jeff said - "We did try that...using the flash file stuff... It was OK, but it wouldnt have worked for everyone... But, I liked the "gritty" look... We could have awesome full detail pics, but that would mean MUCH bigger files, and that would mean MUCH slower response... EVERYBODY's machine can handle a good old fashions GIF..." |

The buttons on your intro page (to read this soldiers bio) and (enter Larue Tactical) seem to be offset to the left from where they should be. The button to read the bio is actually half off the picture. I happen to be using Firefox.
And you should have the resolution on the smaller pictures corrected. They are far to grainy. I can understand the issue on some of your larger pictures with the size of the file but some detail needs to be recognizable in the smaller pictures. If you choose to maintain the file type and resolution of those images you should indicate clearly that a customer can click on it to see a larger detailed picture....(yes some of us are not smart enough to do that) |
Thank you USMC88-93, I told Jeff I may not be the only one left that needs a reminder or refresher course. ML |
site looks good, but minor thing that sticks out to me.... At the home page, your page headline is "New page 1"....and not Larue Tactical or something similar. When you go to bookmark the page, that's what it will save unless you manually enter something else. Also on the Roberts Bio page it is just the URL "http://www.laruetactical.com/robert_bio.html".
It does have a page headling of "LaRue Tactical Storefront" when you click on the link to the store, and as well as on all the store pages. May seem petty, but it's a pet peeve of mine when I do pages/sites. No Expert |

No_Expert, Thanks, I am sure Jeff will know what you mean. And thanks to all for this instantaneous and great feedback. LaRue |
Photos on the first page are grainy in my IE using WXP. Also, I might that you make the image at the top link back to the home page.
Aside from the few things already mentioned there is one thing missing that I liked about your old site, the stock status. It always said "In Stock" or "Out of Stock, Taking Backorders"
I like it when I can get that info before placing an order instead of finding out days or weeks later. |
Agreed MudBug, Jeff is working that issue already to accomplish just what you asked for. ML |
Mark, what about the 13.2 FF rail for AR15? You have one listed for the AR10 but not the other....they're the same price but...
Oops, you are quite right. We have a bunch of 13.2-15 units - they need to be on there. ML |
Here's an issue.
When I clicked on the link to the instructions for installing the 7.0 mount the link was dead. Error, page not found. Man it feels wierd criticising anything related to Larue. Hope this helps. Do I get a free hat or anything? Just kidding. |
2IDdoc, Thanks for the 7.0 heads-up. And now, it's been bugging me for awhile and I gotta ask, what does the blue-faced guy with his teeth knocked out mean ? What context is it properly used ???? ML |
If you right click and click properties it meant: smiley_abused....oh and make sure you click on the animations to add some cool smileys....like this... |
NEWBIE !!! Way cool !!! I mean it, we're laughing ourselves silly over that one. Sweet!!! ETA - And the right click thing worked, thanks. Newbie no more. :-) |
Yes, with IE & Firefox browsers.
Note that when I bookmarks/ favorites the main webpage with the soldier's picture, it's bookmark title shows "New Page 1", it should be "LaRue Tactical". It looks better than the old site. |
Irondot - where did that come from? I might need to get one...
Spooky |
You're welcome, thanks for the quick reply on my SPR-S inquiry (yesterday) and I'll wait for Shana's e-mail. I know a little off topic... |
when clicking on the picture of the 12.0
stores.homestead.com/Laruetactical/Detail.bok?no=51 you get a picture of mfingar with the 11.0 and www.laruetactical.com/lt/handguards.html is 404 ERROR |
On the home page, you guys definitely need to switch to JPEGs for the rotating images - GIF is designed for solid color images and does not compress well on photos. Your JPEGs, if properly set up, will actually be smaller than GIFs because JPEG was designed specifically for photos. If you want to keep the gritty look, I'd set that look up in Photoshop and still output to JPEG for the final web graphic.
ogcujo, AOL has something called "footprints" that need to be occasionally cleared out. Let me know if that works. ML |
Jeff, I hope you're getting all this.... Thanks vmpglenn. :-) |
Yes but jpeg does not animate like they are doing with the GIF. Thats why I suggested a small and simple javascript earlier to roatet through a series of jpeg images. Any browser will be able to do this. I did it in the 90s so it should still work You are already using some javascript on the site. -Foxxz ETA-I suppose you don't want a security assessment of the site. I can set that up for ya |
