I hate the factory grip on my ARs. I like the rubberized feel of the hogues, but i like the idea of the CAA grip with interchangable sections. How is the CAA? Is it rubberized or more of a hard plastic like the maids? The other thing is I am a lefty, is the CAA ambi?

Thanks guys for any info

The CAA is hard plastic. In my opinion never go with CAA regardless. I throw them in the same bucket as UTG as everything I have handled at gun shows from them seems gimmicky and cheap. The typical chi-com crap. Enough of the rant. Grips seem reasonably priced enough to me that the core decision should be feel. That said I love my Ergo. Over molded like the Hogue feel you mentioned without overly pronounced finger placement. Mine is a right handed version but they do make an ambi. For the 20 bucks they sell for I think they are a good deal.

CAA stuff isn't known for being great quality, although I see guys around here running them. I've seen CAA stuff fail, so I avoid them (except their slings)

If you like the Hogue, it's excellent.

If you have smaller hands, you might check out the Ergo Sure Grip. It's kinda like an MP5 grip but with a grippy surface like the Hogue.

Also check out the Magpul MIAD or MOE.

ETA - Ergo makes RIGHT and AMBI models.

I have the Hogues on 5 or 6 of my ARs. Specifically, on the ones that I shoot.
Not into gimmicks, but I like them a lot.

+1 Hogue.

I traded my Hogue for the MIAD because of an FDE build. I miss the Hogue alot. The MIAD is ok but feels nowhere near as good as the Hogue in my hands. If only they made the Hogue in FDE.

Both of my AR's have Hogue grips.

sounds like hogues are the way to go. Are hogues ambi? where is the cheapest place for them? I can always order straight through hogue.

Hogue or ERGO. If you have a large hand look at the ERGO.

I like the Tango Down

Roger on the Tango Down. Do not have the soft rubber feel, but I just plain like them. Also have this cute bottom compartment in which store extra odd ball batteries, etc.

I ran the CAA G27 for a while. It was ok, better than the A2. I then swapped out for the Ergo. I like tje Ergo a lt better. I have a MIAD kit arriving this week and will give that one a try.

Go to a decent gun show and handle tham all. You decide what fits the best.
