I'm getting ready to start my 10.5" CQB carbine project. I'm just waiting on my SBR paperwork to come back from the ATF. I'm looking for some ideas on setup. I should be contacting Wes sometime in the next month to buy the upper.

Wes,

You should take some pic's of the LMT upper with RASII and LMT buis.  I LOVE mine! but unfortunately can only take pics with a crappy PDA digital camera.

Did you try the 2-piece buffer yet?

Wes: if it's not too much trouble, what's the wieght of the 10.5 LMT empty, without optics or light?

If I ever get my (borrowed) digicam back I'll post some of my 10.5"er........though it looks eerily like the one Wes has, and I got the upper from him, it is an individual[;)]

I love the upper and doubt they can be beat in all aspects concerning that length!

I would post pics but the photo server is not working for me for the last few days.  Am I the only one having this problem?

it's not a pre ban SBR but it's what i have. it has gone thru a few configuration changes. the barrel was a bushy heavy 1x9" and was turned down to skiny profile by KKF.

Well that's just GREAT!!!!
Yet another variation that I don't have that I somehow, all of the sudden, can't live without!

Sheesh... I am going to have to sell some deer rifles![thinking]

@ Ridge: what kind of handguard do you installed? It looks very good and convinient. The whole gun seems to be handy and well equiped. I only would stick to my aimpoint [;)]

The upper is ZM Weapons www.zmweapons.com

It puts the buffer spring above the barrel so the stock can fold. The handguard is unique to the upper. I like the looks of it but some say it doesn't cool very well. I haven't experience any problems but mine is not full auto so It real hasn't seen large amounts of fire.

Oh, and no comment about the aimpoint, let's just say I'm very happy with the Eotech. [:D]

I actually dig the foregrip, but that verticle grip is hinky to me - it looks backwards.

What buttpad is on that Vltor?  It looks like one of those ones that say "Viking" on the back.  Is it specially made for the Vltor or did you use a 4-pos or 6-pos stock buttpad?

Haha, your right that is because it is backwards [:D].

This is how it looked originally.

I hated only being able to fit three fingers on the grip so I smoothed it out and turned it around backwards.

I think it looks Hinky both ways but the way I have it now is much more functional (there is no rail so I can't mount a regular vert grip. Until I think of a way).

I've shot a little less than 500 rounds.
Winchester USA 223

Guat 193
Winchester 45gr JHP
PMC 55gr fmj

I haven't had a feeding or extracting malfunction yet.

Early on I was having some problems with doubling. I bought a "brand new" bushmaster trigger group from someone, and come to find out someone had ground on the sear. I replaced the sear with a new one an no problems since.

I don't know if it is the wieght or the gas system but the gun has virtually no muzzle rise and very little recoil. When it was doubling it was putting both rounds right next to each other at 25 yds (makes me wish it was a MG [:(]).
