Thinking about a project - looking for input. I want to put together a sub-MOA, bench rifle build around a 24" barrel. I am thinking the standard, free floated, varminter setup. Since I now have the option, I was thinking about adding a flash supressor to the end....granted it may be unnecesary, but screw it, the ban is gone and I want one.

Is this a stupid idea, or do other people do this?
Practically, I cant see ever needing this rifle to have the flash suppressed, but I also havent waited 10 years to NOT do it.

What do you think?

Phantoms and vortexs look funny on anything longer than 14.5" if you ask me.

It will look funky, but the longer barrel will have even less flash than the shorter ones, especially with a FH. You can also put a compensator on it and that heavy barrel wont even move. If someone would start making a threaded muzzle crown to go on such barrels it would be nice.

Go for it! I have a Phantom on my 16" and am very happy with the way it looks:

I would keep a crowned muzzle on a varmint rifle, especialy on a 24" varmint rifle. Save the money and buy some ammo.

I had asked BM about this some time ago and they recomend against it...carbon and just will build up in the f/s and kill off your accuracy....however you could do it and spotlessly clean it every time you shoot. I dunno, I think it would look cool...hence why I too, asked.

Yes indeed!
Get a 11 degree crown on that varminter, and forget the FS.
