Just bought my 2nd perma pin and this is what happened after 100 rounds. My 1st pin was flawless but after this, I will stick to the cotter-pin types.

Yeah it does.

Go with the normal pins, and use a bullet tip to get it out, and just wiggle and twist to get it in. Problem solved.

Appreciate the post.  Had intended to get a couple of thes to put into early M16 clones I've built up. Guess I'll stay w/cotter pins after all [:D]

Are you using a short barrel with the gas port opened up? I had a 7 1/2" that I opened up a little too much and it started to bend the cotter pins now I keep a few spare and change out when it gets too bent.

Not too short.I'm using a 14.5" barrel. The last time I used a perma-pin was on a 16" RRA upper and I had no problems other than it would fall out easily when the bolt/carrier was removed.
