OK, so my standards may not be as high as some - but this build is really nice.  I don't think I want to fire this one!  I have a CH upper with virtually no scratches or dings, a NDS lower that is almost perfect color match, a barrel that was NOS still in packaging and a buttstock and handguards so pretty they bring tears to my eyes.  And although I typically love mottled furniture, I really have to replace this grip with a near new condition straight black one soon (US Collectors Ordnance - Dave is trying to find me one!)

The takedown pins came out a little lighter than I hoped using the naval jelly trick but that can be corrected later.  Oh, no picture but the colt BCG is in nearly new condition as well.  Getting this one together has really been a treat - more so for all the help from this forum!  Thanks!

Pretty darn nice!! Hope you decide to shoot it, wall hangers and safe queens we don't need, I'm not suggesting a truck gun but you need to shoot. That goes for all ya'll!!

Very nice.  You can shoot it without scratching it all up.  Put a little electrical on the port door rectangle and on the right side to keep brass from dinging it and be careful when you split the halves.  Be real easy with the charging handle.  Wear can occur sitting in the safe. It is an excellent looking carbine build.  If barrel was new it should really perform.  Not gonna be worth any less if you shoot it and I'm guessing you were joking anyway.

Looks great!  I will have a sling for you as well as soon as I can get them off and back from m1sniper. I'll be finally shipping them out next week. The GP/paracord sling is the fastest, most comfortable sling I've ever used, particularly on a fixed stock carbine. Transitions to a handgun are fast, it carries patrol style perfectly and once fitted requires no adjustment. I run it 'Israeli style' with just a loop tied off just at the sling swivel, allowing it to fall off the end when you bring it up to shoulder. If adjusted right, you can still hasty sling it. I don't know how busy m1sniper is, but it shouldn't be too long. Beautiful build. You had better shoot it though! Oh, and I prefer a small piece of soft velcro behind the port door on safe queens...oh wait, I don't HAVE any safe queens anymore! Guns are for shooting. How do you like the fixed stock carbine configuration? Grows on you don't it?

Tell me about it! I just got a High Powered Armory XM barrel and put it on my assembled M16E1 lower and LOVED it!

Have a black LM upper that will HAVE to get a light weight 14.5 with extended and pinned A2 FH and a Type E stock!

Morg,
Actually surprised by the balance - this is the first time I have even mounted a fixed stock on a carbine.  I am looking forward to some range time to further experiment and of course try it with a sling!
So yes Cdenmark - I was kidding.  I suppose there is a gun out there somewhere I wouldn't shoot - maybe an actual NIB SP1 or something, but when I inherited my grandfathers .22, I restored it to firing condition, put a few rounds through it, cleaned it up and oiled it and haven't fired it in 15 years - but I know it will go bang when I pull the trigger and have a pretty good idea where the lead will be going.  Now I gotta go to the craft store for some soft velcro...

The Middy A1 fixed stock is possibly the perfect AR configuration of all time. I love the retro middy Mike @ NDS has - wanna post a pic Mike? It's really what the M16 should have been. Great rifle carbine MRW.

Morg,
Educate me here... what is the advantage of the middy in your opinion?  Cycle better?  Shooting position?  Just interested in learning more...

I don't really "have" it, we mocked up some parts to show off the handguards.
