What is the best trick to "peel" a peel washer?

1.  Razor blade.
2.  Pocketknife.

Hold washer with pliers. Heat one corner with a lighter until it smokes. After it cools you should be able to peel layers off with your fingernail.

The peel washers are punched out from a bunch of thin sheets stacked together. This makes the "top" layer kind of fold over the edges and it covers all the other edges. If you look on the 'bottom', you should be able to see the edge of the top layer. Peel that up and pop off the top layer and toss it. Then you'll have a nice flat stack of washers with all the edges visible, which you can separate with the razor or pocketknife mentioned earlier.
