I just got back from the big Reno Gun show, and picked up a nice M4 style.....All black, I am however, somewhat interested in the camoflauged AR's there. Is there any way to change/paint an AR? and not foul it

You must hate living in CA. There have been a few recent thread on refinished/ camo'd AR15, check them out and you should get some good info.

Take a look at this thread for some info ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=118&t=234967

Most guys use the Lauer Custom Weaponary Duracoat. They make complete kits that include everything you need. Paint, airbrush, templates, etc to do the job. It is supposed to be easy and I have seen beautiful results. Norells is also good as well as Guncoat I beleive. Stickman is being a bit modest but he happens to be quite the refinishing master. You use Norells don't you Stick?

I'm a big fan of Norrells, simply because for me it works better. The only down side is that there are not as many colors as the LDC.

If you are looking at camo, I think its important to figure if you want a good loking camo, or if you are looking for function. The two really aren't the same thing.

Below is an example of straight OD GReen, by itself, and outside in the NW.....
