PSA - Palmetto State Armory has their Forged 9mm lower on sale for 69.99 with free shipping, One day sale/ Ends 12 noon on 8/17, I have nothing to do with PSA, just pointing out what I think is a good deal, I have one of the forged lowers mated to a NFA LRBHO upper and runs great.

I fo'd on one last night. We'll see how it looks when it gets here.

Thanks. I picked up a couple. Love my Colt pattern 9. Hopefully, this'll run the 50rd drums I have.
Looks like they extended the sale to noon 8/18. |

I love my PSA. Picked up the complete upper a while back on special for 3 bills shipped.
Than grabbed a complete lower for $230 shipped. All i added was a rear sight, Sparc II and magpul slim handguard and this thing shoots like a champ. Ive had no issues at all with it. Currently working on loads for it with 124gr pills. Funny story, the steel case ammo was logging well over 1800fps in my rifle! Thats some speed! |

Anyone know if the MBT trigger from LaRue works with the hybrid bolt?

It shocked me when i saw the chrono. Thought it was wrong, but you could feel the difference in recoil from my handloads and those steel case rounds.
I think they were cheap brand called monarch, 115gn i believe. I did run a few thru my glock 19 and the chrono read right at 1200fps. I gotta get another box for my range trip this weekend to see if i can duplicate it. |

ordered a lower last night, how holding for a pistol length upper
|
|
I've been running a PSA billet glock lower that I bought stripped - added the 12 inch slanted mlok handguard pistol upper and a sig brace to the back. It's been great with SGM 33 round mags. no issues to date other than using the carbine buffer at this point. It has gotten a little chewed up by the buffer stop in the lower.
I would not hesitate to get a PSA forged lower either- I have a couple regular AR Blem forged lowers from them that look better than the Anderson one I saw at the local shop. I've actually been thinking of picking one of these lowers up to start a 9mm 16 in barrel build with, but my main goal with the AR9 in the first place was less front heavy, lighter blast for indoor range for my kids to shoot. the 12 in barrel with the KAK can muzzle device fits them well. Looking forward to getting some time at a friends property to see how it does out to 50 and 100 yards. Indoor ranges here max out at 25 and the closest outdoor range don't allow pistols or pistol calibers on the 100 yard range. |

Sale is still going. I ordered four of them.
Now I have to figure out what to do with them. |
|
Thanks place costs me money just ordered one and will be filling out a form 1 when it gets here.

Yeah I fent
Got my shipping notice today Now i gotta get in line with everyone else who bought during the sale for an upper |

Not exactly. They seem to be 90% of the way to LRBHO lowers. They are missing the parts, but the lateral cut over to the standard AR bolt stop has not been cut. I guess that's what makes them blem. Perhaps their vendor forgot some lines of code in the CNC machine.
This is a pic off the internet of what the LRBHO lower should look like. Now you know why they were $70. I too was knocking myself out about all the extra holes and that funky little lever on the left side of the magwell. Attached File |

After picking mine up and not being able to find any cosmetic imperfections, it dawned on me why they have thousands of these "blems" and are blowing them out for 69 bucks... These lowers originally had LRBHO, but apparently it didn't work for shit and maybe even caused malfunctions, so they ripped all the LRBHO parts out of them Before http://midstatefirearms.com/images/14920239719591740245243.jpeg After http://palmettostatearmory.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/5/1/516446233.jpg View Quote |

For LRBHO on one of these lowers, A New Frontier Armory or Joe Bob's Spartan upper will give you LRBHO.

I haven't built it out yet, but I wanted to update that Glock and KCI mags drop free from this lower, but ETS mags (empty or full) do not. It won't stop me from using them on the range as I'm sure they'll function just fine. But, they do require a good bit of effort to remove from the magwell.
Lower was purchased as a blem. But, as is common with PSA, I can't find any blems. |
|
With my huge sample size of one, I can conclude the Magpul mags drop free.
|
|
I bought one and can only find a couple of small finish blems. My 10.5" upper shipped and should be here Monday.

What is needed to convert these to lrbho View Quote 1. Mill out the lateral cut from the left side over to the bolt release. 2. Refinish. 3. Somehow get the necessary parts from PSA and install them. These parts are not sold by PSA. 4. Hope your lower actually holds the bolt open. |

Give this a shot. After you seat one of the ETS mags, give it a tug downward and see if it moves a hair and clicks. Then try hitting the mag release and see if it drops. For some reason this makes my ETS mags drop free 100%. View Quote |

My only disappointment was that I couldn't use the Odin Works Extended Mag Release on this one as the shape of the lever on these is different than the PSA billet or NFA lowers. It does run well with my Taccom upper though. Very happy considering the price.

two stage triggers, LaRue and Geissele, have both had issues. Big thread in the PCC section of the forums. View Quote I put in a mil-spec take-off from a previous build that got an MBT, and it runs great. Carbine buffer spring, Spikes 9mm buffer, PSA 10.5" m-lock upper. 250 rounds today with zero issues. |
|
I just picked up an NFA side charging upper with 5.5" BA barrel. Should I grab one of these lowers or shell out the extra for the billet ar9 lower? Any advantage to the billet?
|
|
Figured I'd post an update. I hit the range today and put 300 rounds of Wolf steel cased ammo through my 9mm.
Just like the previous range trips with brass cased ammo, it ran like a raped ape. This lower and a 300 dollar 10.5" PSA upper (the lightweight M-lok rail one) has been a super fun toy for me and my son. |
