Went to range today to break-in new upper from RR.. Using PMP ammo .223, I noticed after the First 8 rounds the Bolt was not able to extract case... I had to force bolt open with wood block and hammer. That sucks... I hate doing this kind of stuff to new equipment. :(

After further inspection, I noticed the neck of the PMP ammo to have expanded a bit more than some Israeli ammo the person next to me was shooting.

Anybody using PMP south African ammo that has had simular experiences??

PMP shoot's great in all my AR's, it's about 100fps slower than milspec ammo, but is very accurate.

Not really..It's worked fine for me..

Haven't tested it in a F/A though, so the jury is still out..

PMP works great for me, and is only a bit more than Wolf..

The battle packed stuff is more powerful (or is that PMC?).

Try this link for reviews...

this is inside the Ammo FAQ at the top of the forum.

As to the width of the case neck, FWIW, might be due to the difference in chamber dimensions between USGI 5.56, .223 SAAMI and .223 Wylde...see the FAQ for such info...I believe RR uses .223 Wylde, whereas my DPMS uses 5.56. Maybe your range neighbor's combo of chamber spec and ammo spec was different ("tighter")than yours. Just a guess...I am still learning myself.

Good luck and good shooting.

Thanks for the replies... Going to try some Winchester then Some Wolf. Just to test, I did also noticed that my upper came with a wilson barrel, which I am not to familiar with.

II've shot quite a bit of this in a Bushy Dissipator with no problems

i have shot about 500 rounds of PMP in a Bushmaster flattop with no problems. I did have some problem trying to reload the cases. About 1 in 10 would not fit in my 223 shellholder. Something wrong in the case dimension after firing.

Ditto on the reliability...

Problems fitting in the shellholder??? That is a huge deal! Is the brass so bad that the extractor bends the rim? Or does it deform upon firing? Shellholders aren't that picky about what fits into them.

Can you give more details, I have about 200 PMP cases in the drawer I want to eventually reload.

Have seen PMP being used by FBI Special Agents for practice ammo in their Colts.
