Ok, I am EMBARRASHED to ask a newbie question. But, I really do need to know, so please help me.
I know this question is in the FAQ, but the FAQ does not have a photo for me to compare. Is this normal wear along the cam pin cutout ? This is actually along the rail surface. My quess is that the leading edge of the carrier (bearing surface of the carrier) is scrapping the reciever in this spot. Is this the normal wear that is referenced in the FAQ I "Wear inside upper at cam pin clearance cut" ? ETA - The is a new reciever that has fired only 75 rounds. The carrier is a new Bushmaster carrier.

Yep, some uppers do it and some wear in other ways but notice it will staiblize for the most part in short order.
Don't sweat it, that upper is far tougher than you think it is. This is a perfectly normal wear pattern. |

May be the gas tube lifting the carrier slightly.

Actually, it is the spring tension thru rounds in the magazine that lifts the bolt carrier and causes the most wear in that part of the upper.

No, the wear mentioned in the FAQ refers to wear at the rear (buttstock side) of the cam pin clearance cut. |

You're getting due for a replacement gas tube. The end is well worn, does it still pass the short stroke test? |

Tweak, thanks for the heads up! I'll order a new gas tube shortly. the test passed fine during the last range session. another 1k down range with no issues to report.  |
