Not to sound silly but the Osprey Defense bolt carrier looks like crap.  The many many photos in their excellent online instructions show a bolt carrier with an ugly uneven finish.  I guess that causes me concern because a) a smooth finish would have less drag b) every other bolt carrier I've personally seen has a smooth attractive finish c) if they can't put a decent finish on a bolt carrier where else did they cut corners d) it's ugly and for the price it should look much better.

Before a smart alec chimes in, I want one because it's the only one to fit under my FF tube.  So to anyone that has one; is the finish better than shown online?  If no does it seem to effect performance?  Does the finish bother you?

They have a heavy blast finish.

Look at it as more places for lube.

Doesn't bother me, Spikes and others have a similar texture.

Look doesn't matter.  Weapon is a tool.
When it count. That's matter.
Osprey is the king of piston system, period.
So far, 700 rounds thru my 7.62x39 platform and no misfire.

I don't actually own an Osprey.  I wish my AA parts had FZ though.  That stuff is nice.  It feels lubed when it's not.  Melonite will have to do.
