I would expect from 0.065 inches to 0.070 inches diameter. Charles the Gunsmith.

Randy -

I was thinking about starting small. That is why I made the recommendation of 0.065 inches to 0.070 inches. I did neglect to say that it should be opened up in port size, in small increments, as needed, until it runs reliably. Semper Fi.... Charles.

Randall,

reliability testing tip... I actually have a chest freezer that the guns go in for a few hours to test function, it is a cheap way to ensure that what leaves the door will work!

Charles-

Think about bore expansion ratio...
Bigger bore, lower pressure, bigger gas port.

I drill my 16" mid-length 6.8's at 0.086"
I don't have notes for a 14.5" as I have never done one.
I'll hazard a guess and say you will end up over 0.093" on that setup.
Just start small and work up to proper function.
Hopefully it will be short stroking at first.
Open up the port until you can fire it while standing sideways to the target and holding it in front of you so it can free-recoil.
If it cycles in free recoil, it will also cycle in cold weather against your shoulder.

0.093" is  my suspicion as well.  Thank you all for the input.
