I am looking for an optic recommendation for my Noveske. 16" Noveske/VLTOR VIS upper. Noveske Gen 2 lower.
I currently have an Eotech 512 mounted on it. My other rifles are a Larue PredatAR with a Vortex Viper PST 1-4x24, a BCM 14.5" carbine with an Aimpoint Micro, and a 20" build with a 3-12x40 Bushell AR Optics scope.
Think I want something other than the Eotech on the Noveske to take adavntage of that superb Noveske barrel. Budget would be around $500. What do you guys recommend?

What's your purpose. There is nothing special about it being a Noveske other than the premium it carries. This is coming from someone who runs an Afghan.

Go with the Vortex Strike Eagle 1-6

With a good mount you are still going to be a tad under your $500 price cap.

or you could always wait until Primary Arms comes out with their 1-8

It will be made entirely in Japan

Get a 1-6x (vortex strike eagle, PA ACSS)

or the Viper PST 2.5-10x32 FFP

or aimpoint PRO

I have a Bushnell AR scope in a Larue mount on my Noveske.  Even if I upgrade at some point, I will just put this inexpensive scope on another rifle.

I just punch paper out to 100yds or so. Its a very accurate barrel and is being wasted with an Eotech.

+1.  If you can afford an Noveske, then I'm sure a premium optic is w/in your reach.  I have an Elcan riding atop an SR15 (both EE purchases) and they both compliment each other very well.

Is there a thread here on that scope? Looks interesting.

I ordered one way back when it was still on backorder.  I actually forgot I pre-ordered it.  It was sitting on my doorstep when I came back from a business trip.  Never got a chance to use it though.  I ended up selling it since I decided to go a different direction with a project gun I was working on. But as with all SWFA optics, you can expect a quality product without having to spend too much coin.  Not sure if there was ever a thread about it, but nobody is going to beat the shit out of you if you start one...

Will it primarily be at 100 yard fixed targets, or will you be using it at ntermediate ranges, and fast paced closer range tactical shooting?  if it is to be a precision type purpose higher magnification is justifed.  If not, lower.  Will you have secondary offset sights?

It will 100yd bench mostly. I will never own offset sights. I have no use for them and frankly do not see the benefit unless its for competition shooting.

I also am looking for a scope to alternate with my Close quarter Eotech. I would like a scope for 100-200 yd use.

The scope recommended by Precisionrifle Blog (a very technical evidence-based and respected blog) in your price range is:

Leupold Mark AR 6-18x40mm.

For a fixed benchrest precision scope at 100 yards look at the tried and true Weaver T-24 and T-36.  But those scopes are pure benchrest, not "mostly 100 yards."

Maybe the Leupold variable?

That looks pretty interesting, though I question how well the ACSS reticle will work on a 1-8 without modifying the reticle so it's useable at both1x and 8x.

that's a good point....I'm figuring the folks at Primary Arms already thought of it.....I guess we shall see what we shall see....eh?

I'll bet that is a real tight eye box and exit pupil size at 8x with only a 24mm objective lens:  3mm right?  Not much room for lateral movement.  Really have to get exactly behind the center or it goes black, right? And a whopping 26 1/2 ounces, too!   Portly, if not obese.

Geez, a Leupold VX-R Patrol 3-9x40mm Patrol with Firedot, and full MRAD turrets and reticle is less than half the price, will be much brighter in low light, and is only 15.3 ounces.   I though OP was mostly going to punch small holes in paper at 100 yards.

The Mark AR 6-18 above is only 15.3 ounces, also.  Even the big VX-6 4-24x52 weighs less than that 1-8x24 and only costs a couple hundred more.  Either would have a small exit pupil too, at maximum magnification but that would be at 18x or 24x rather than only 8x.     Humm?

Oh yeah, that PA scope is way out of the price range. I'm really liking the Leupold Mark AR scopes though.

Goddam.   I didn't see that coming.  Interestingly enough, it looks a lot like the recent "high end" Pinnacle 1-6x24 offering from Sightmark (also made in Japan).
