Hey all, I know threads like this come up often, so I have some parameters to hopefully help narrow down what I'm looking for. I have an 8.2" Noveske in 300blk, and I'm looking for a basic optic which will allow me to shoot for "precision groups" at 100 yards. I'm not looking for anything crazy, just something that will help dial in my reloads where I'll be able to test the accuracy of my rounds.
Budget: $300-450
Mount: Cheap as possible...rings or solid mount?
Illuminated
4+ Magnification (don't care if it's a 1x, 2x, or 3-9 etc.)
Compact as Possible
It does NOT have to be 300blk specific. Right now I'm checking out the Vortex Strike Eagle 1-6x24 ($300) and the Vortex PST Viper 1-4x24 ($450). I like the reticle of the PST over the Strike Eagle, but I like how the SE has a 6x power. I've shot a 4x ACOG and while it's enough to get there, I want to make sure this optic will allow me to really dial in a POA on a 100y target to test my loads. I also want to be able to see my hits from that distance. Is the PST worth the extra $150?
Right now I'm running a Trijicon SRS, which is a great optic, but obviously isn't good for working up loads!
FWIW: I would also really prefer to order the optic and mount/rings at the same store, and with Mil/LE discount, or someone who will match the 10% discount.
