I have an ARMS #40A2 and was just wondering if I could switch it to the ARMS #40Ls aperature system with the small aperature over the large aperature for my default.

Can this be done?

I don't think you can go from an ARMS#40 or #40A2 to a #40L (as the #40L is a different arm altogether). You can go between a #40 and a #40A2. If you want same plane apertures you'll have to get the XS Sights AR-15 same plane rear aperture.

What exactly do the same plane aperatures do?

Thanks Troy,

Do you know where I could buy some different aperatures? I looked at Bushmaster and they didn't have any on their site; I don't think.

Does the A1 have both small aperatures? I was under the impression that they were.
Thanks again.

Do the A1 sites have a big aperature and a small one, or just 2 small?

Any pics of an A1 aperature?

So it would not be recommended to change out my A2 for an A1?

I don't like the big aperature. I hate it with a passion. A loacal dealer just told me to use my small one all the time, but I know what the big and small are used for.

I can't get my eyes to focus on the front sight post in the large aperature.

I hate it!

I know my right eye is dominant and I shoot right handed. I am a new shooter to using irons. I gues I need to stop focusing on the target and more on the front sight post. When I am shooting for groups I gues I try to stay focused on the target and the bull's eye, guesing that focusing on the target will improve where I am aiming.

When I try to shoot with the focus on the front sight post I feel like I can't even tell where I am aiming on the target.

So, either way I am inaccurate.

The small aperature allows me to get the focus I need on the front sight. I can shoot about 2-3 MOA with the small and about 10-12 MOA with the large.

That is a HUGE difference.

I tried This and it helped me focus on the front sight, but the reduction of sight radius will make my shots less precise.
