I have a older 4 digit bushmaster lower and just built an AR with a CMT flattop upper.  the lower appears to have a purple finish while the newer upper is solid black.  What color should i have the lower done in to match the CMT upper.  thanks

Use Norrells SOCOM/ Matte black, and it will match pretty close.  If you are looking for an exact match, do them both yourself at the same time.

Norrells is probably the cheapest, and most effective finish available without getting into something like Cerakote.  Norrells is certainly easy enough to do yourself.
