My friend who shall now forever remain on page one of my cool book gave me a lower for being best man at his wedding.  Now I need some ideas as to what to buy and how to make my rifle totally badass.  Please feel free to post pics of what you guys have done to you AR's or if your paranoid that I'm a JBT, don't post em.  Either way this is going to be my firts AR and I don't want to fuck it up by getting cheap shit and putting asshole like extras on it.  I hear a lot of good things about eotech and bushmaster, from this site and am very much looking forward to recieving soem friendly and professional advice.

Your animated gif shows me that you're a very angry person and you shouldn't be allowed to have dangerous weapons. I'll IM my address so you can ship it to me. Please, do it for the children. And check out the threads in the build it yourself section.

BRD is a terrible, debilatating disease.  It only takes one item for some people to contract it.  The sooner you rid yourself of this thing, the better your chances of making a recovery.

I'd build it up into a nice M4gery.  But that's just me.

I like the look of the classic SP1 or early M16 type.

I bought one of these a couple of weeks ago, only I got the removable carry handle instead of the BUIS. (back up iron sight).

I love it, and its all you need if you just have a stripped reciever.

That being said, I am going to be a best man in a wedding in November, and that would make me hella happy (in my case I could have spent the same amount on a stripped reciever as I did the tux).

Whatever you do, don't order a catalog from J & T Distributing.

www.jtdistributing.com

You won't be able to make a decision at all.  And to make it worse, if you don't see what you want online or in the catalog, Jesse can make it for you if you call him up.

You'll get your J&T kit, which will have excellent parts, fit and finish, the upper completely built and ready to pin on and shoot.

But as you look at the catalog further you'll be overwhelmed, have to buy some more lowers so you can build more.

Well I guess I have to decide what I will be using this weapon for.  I'm leaning towards using it for long range shooting I guess.  I have a few other mil-spec rifles from the WW2 era, and really enjoy shooting them.  So I hope this helps in making some recomendations for dealers and parts.

Thanks again guys.

Can I use that rig as a long distance shooter, I mean can I remove the iron sights and mount a rail/scope?  Or do I need something completely different.

Thanks
Dave

If you want long range I'd go with a 20" instead of a 16".

Man, I started the same way. Bought an RRA lower for a good price one friday night at home, looking at gunbroker with too many beers in me. Next I started perusing the EE section, and a few months later (I wasn't in a hurry) I found a complete upper, which was just what I wanted.

Now I've finally bought buttstock parts and will have my Lower parts kit soon. ( I got busy and waited to ship my lower - now I'm getting the LPK from the same guy shipped for nothing.)

The guys on Equipment exchange are great - you can get new parts from dealers ( Got a very pretty 4 pos collapsible from Tic) or good deals on used stuff. Take your time and don't jump on the first thing you see - check out the picture threads - there are guys here who own more ARs than I own guns, and some of them cost more than my whole collection! Figure out what you really like, and start collecting parts. Just read a lot. Lots of experience here to draw on. I could have bought a cheap kit from one of the many who sell them, but I wanted an A1 upper, and ended up with some really nice parts for just a little more. I figure quality is worth it. You don't have to spend an arm and a leg building an AR, but you sure can! Take it one step at a time. I've spent 6 months collecting parts and will finally have a rifle I can shoot by the end of the month. Just my .02

BTW - that was a pretty cool present from your friend. Better than a watch!
