I was talking to a friend, and he thought the the Okay Industries Magazine are pre-ban Mags and would be OK to sell to BAN states. Does any one know if this is true? Are they worth a little more because of that? I rather sell them to some one in a BAN state so they can feel a littler freer.

there should be a date code on the side of the magazine. as long as its dated before 1994 it can be sold to NY, which i believe is the only state that will allow you to bring in mags that you did not own prior to the ban. and yes they can generally bring a little if they are preban, but i just wouldnt feel right doing that to someone just because we're in a freer state than they are. alot people usually trade them for a new production mag.

+1 on that. OK seems to be the only maker that consistantly put a made date code on their mags making it pretty easy to tell legal pre-ban mags (those date before 9-1994) and No-No mags (usually either no dates or clearly marked "Law Enforcement or Military use only".

Thanks for the Help. I still need some help verifying if they 1986 or 1998..LOL. I think it's 86 but the one of the markings is upside down on one of the mags and I may be reading it backwards. What do you think? Here are some pics looking from the bottom up.

With the exception of (IIRC) some Center Industries mags, EVERY USGI mag made from 1994-2004 will be clearly marked with some variation of the "For Military / Law Enforcement / Export USe Only" marking on the outside of the magazine body.

Okay magazines will also have the cage code 33710 and the date (MM/YY format)

I don't know the exact date they started, but they will also have the stylized "Okay Industries New Britain CT" logo stamped into the side

They only started stamping the date a few years prior to the ban, and magazines made from the 1970's through the '80's will be blank.

Looking at the position of the lettering in the first pic, I would assume the numbers are positioned the same way......meaning it's 98.

Of course, I could be wrong though.

I doubt it would be 98, if there is no LEO/GOV/MIL marking.

The ban was in place in 1998 and it would have had the LEO/MIL warning, date, and cage code stamped on the outside.

What is pictured is on the inside of the mag, and it's not a date.

Thank you everyone. There's nothing on the out side of the mag. I bought them during the BAN as pre-ban mags. I just wanted to make sure before selling them on EE. What's a fair price for a used pre-ban mag? They have normal ware but nothing bad.

I would say $10-$12 is the value of one of those.

This is a fair price to the NYers, I wouldn't think you would have a problem moving them at this price. Maybe a NYer can chime in......

I'm in Texas, and I almost jumped on a decent condition OKay for $10 a few weeks ago... I may have gotten it, but I didn't have much cash with me, and wanted to use cash on another purchase.

OKays are nice... and if the ones the OP had are structurally sound, as it appears they are, I think it would be easy to get $12 from someone in a ban state. I don't think it would be an unfair price, either.

Yes, that's a fair price. All of the pre-ban mags I've bought here, were for around $15 each, shipped.

All these laws are so stupid. The only thing Democrats have ever done is cause me to spend more money for taxes and "preban" crap.

I thought that if the mag had no date it was legal in NY.
