I know what I want.  I just don't know the best way to get there.  I want to do this as inexpensively as I can.

1)  I want a weaponlight for my AR that will have the same performance as an M3T

2)  I want to be able to switch from a turbohead to a LED when I want to.

3)  I want to use surefire parts

So do I just buy the above parts, or can it be made cheaper by using other flashlights and building it?  (Like a 9P)

- SureFire's M97 WeaponLight uses the same lamps and TurboHead as the M3T.
I'm not sure what the pricing is on the different options but I don't expect it'll be that much cheaper to "build" your own version. You could just use an M3T but if you want a real WeaponLight...
LM90, KT4, A21, TailCap (Z41/Z48/Z58 etc) and mount.

2) I want to be able to switch from a turbohead to a LED when I want to.
The KL6 directly replaces the TurboHead/bezel on the M3T/M97/LM90 etc

3) I want to use surefire parts
It's possible but I'm not sure it'll be any cheaper than getting an M97.

The standard-body 9P can not accept the Millennium TurboHead (which is shock isolated).

See! Better off getting the real deal.

The KL6 LED bezel directly swaps with the TurboHead.

here is a photo (it's the bottom one)

Wouldn't it be a lot cheaper to just buy a M3T, tape switch and mount; then the M97?
The M97 retails at $450 vs. $308 for the M3T
