Maybe not 100% cqbr related, but do Colt waffles have certain marks or distinguishing features to know they are Colt? I have one that came on a Colt but I'm not sure its an actual Colt waffle.

My waffle has no numbers that I can see and doesn't even have the rectangular boxes where they should be. It also doesnt have the circle imprint on that side. Shape and thickness look the same though. Not a colt?

Okay gentlemen, this is my first “post” post so go easy. I’ve drawn upon the magnificent examples of the type seen here and after two months of scouring the EE, reading every page of this thread, and trying to balance my investment with the other responsibilities we all have in life, I’ve reached a point where I’m pretty happy with my first clone build. I know there’s things to change like the trigger guard lower receiver, and pistol brace, but here’s where I’m at.
I started with an Aero pistol lower I bought before such things became verboten in California. It was already fully built so 80% of that build got sold off to help fund this. I purchased a RIS II FSB cutout rail and took it to a local machine shop to get chopped. The ano is a really dark chocolate brown and it was touched up with BW Casey aluminum black. Cost me all of $20 and I’m very happy with the quality. 
I procured as many pieces as I could and started to paint. Taped off lenses and such, then sprayed away. 
I used the four colors pictured below, starting with the tan over the whole piece, then using an issued mesh laundry bag to spray the Aervoe Field Drab (best color ever) and the flat brown. I then striped it with the olive drab color. I wanted pretty green dominant as I’m in rural Northern California and its hard to justify the Syria-flauge I see a lot of. 
Huge shout out to MILSPEC556, who graciously volunteered to help me out, couldn’t have assembled so quick and correctly without ya, bud. 
It’s been a hugely satisfying process hunting all these parts down, and my next plans are for a standard power PEQ to sit on top. I welcome any feedback you guys may have. |

Talking about sopmods, I have begun replacing all of the b5 contract stocks i bought with legit lmt gen 1 black or coyote stocks. coyote obviously costs a lot more, black costs $30 more than the b5 from brownells when hunting for deals in the EE. just scored another nice tan gen juan in the EE yesterday.
i've noticed on the LMT's that the finish is slightly slicker on the outside and the lock up on the buffer tube is better (tighter) than the b5 stocks are. i prefer the no wobble. |
