Oh man, that is a .22 set-up!!!!

If my state would "allow" suppressors, I wouldn't have a stray cat or dog problem.

To the OP: Congrats on your new upper, I suspect you'll have a good time and thanks for the pics.

Very nice gentlemen,
Scott

Do the 22 kits come with the lettering and designs on all the uppers, i.e. the spider on the top and the ST-22 on the side?

Anyone had a chance to run subsonics with the new Spikes Bolts? Just curious as to whether they will function reliability since they set their system up to run on Fed Bulk Pack Ammo.

Is that really the new Spike bolt?

Maybe I'm an idiot, but it looks like a nickle plated, modified ciener.

And the M1S barrel?   I thought those ran with modified cieners?

Maybe I'm wrong.

Spikes, original modified bolts were modified cieners. He re-designed them to improve function and reliability (Firing pin, extractor, feed ramp… ECT, have all been re-designed) and then had the bolt plated.
They are designed to be used with the same “barrel extension” configuration as the modified ciener bolts, but the design of new bolts have is a great improvement over the modified ciener.
Although the overall appearance might look like a ceiner, it is not.

As for the barrels, as far as i know Spike is having LOTHAR WALTHER produce his barrels in the future, but it looks like they won’t be ready for 100-150 days, so to prevent further delay he had to use the Shaw .22 barrels with the M1S stamp.
Which, by the way, are pretty damn accurate!!! Way more accurate than I ever expected them to be, especially since I am only running a 6” barrel… it’s just as accurate as my 18” stainless Ruger 10/22 at 100yds.

Thanks for clearing that up for me.  I think I was under the impression the new bolts would have a chamber adapter to allow it to drop into any existiing upper.   Sounds like you'll need a new barrel to go with the new bolt.

Not a problem, but not what I thought.

As far as I know, he will be selling his bolts with a chamber adapter later.
The manufacturing of the dedicated bolts was first on the list of priorities.

You really are better off with a dedicated upper though…
1:9, 1:8, and 1:7 twist rates are way too fast for .22lr, the proper twist rate for .22lr is around 1:12 which is what the dedicated barrels are cut at.
Plus the fact that shooting .22lr in your 5.56 upper gloms up your gas system with crap (lead, wax, dirty powder…ECT)

That's good to hear.

I am currently running a dedicated upper with a ciener, but it's an old 20" A1 with a 1:12 twist.  I blocked off the gas tube and it's worked great from day one.

The problem starts tomorrow when UPS delivers my much awaited KKF 16" barrel.   I have a second upper for it, but not a second kit, so the 20" will probably gather dust for awhile until a kit surfaces somewhere for it.

I figure the KKF will keep me occupied for a couple months anyway.   At least until the Walther barrels start becoming available and I have an excuse to pull the third stripped upper out of the safe.

10-4…
Sounds like you’re squared away until the L-W barrels and the chamber adapter bolts are available.

I've been looking through the threads and still cannot find any direct reference to Spikes new kit and M16 (full-auto capability).  Does his new kit use the standard anti-bounce and sear trip?  Is there a milled or drilled hole for the "BB" modification?  Thanks for the help really need to get in line for a new .22 upper.

No sorry.

That's weird... My Spike's upper has just the spider engraved (hides under the BUIS) and nothing on the upper receiver's sides. Must be an older upper (I got it just before Christmas).

The top I dont mind, but the side is kinda large and obvious.  I wanted it to look like a clone to my M4.  Theres no hiding that ST-22 and the flag.  I just think the side should be an option.  Guess the only way is to un-barrel it and put on a new CMT flat-top upper.

If you look at Spike's website you will see that you can order their upper with the auto trip option.

+1....I don't like being forced into having the etching on the side. I already have a Spike's upper and a lower (without the lettering but with the spider....I DO like the spider). Etched lettering really should be optional. Spike, are you listening?

For me, I don't care cause I am getting it as a dedicated upper. If they had mags that looked like normal or PMAGs that would go in it maybe but... I don't care ether way, sorry not helping I am sure

Wow my digital ears hurt after all that yelling So you do want it or you don't cause I can't tell from your wording If you ordered before April 25th then I will be happy to take your place in line

You can get the followers direct from BDM blackdogmachinellc.net There might be other places to get them but I don't know if there is. They are $5 each on the BDM site.
