Hmmmmm, ok, think I want the 6.8 over the 300 Whisper...  Maybe... need some convincin people!

I don't know, that .300 Fireball is one sweet little ctg.   30cal. stuff is easy to find, brass is much cheaper then for the 6.8 and loading date has been available for years. Personally, I'd go  with what I went with, the .300 Fireball. I'm sure in the future the 6.8Rem.SPC will become popular enough to warrent getting one but until then I'll stick with something that's easy to get, plus did I mention that the .300 uses standard AR mags, no special mag needed like with the 6.8.

I'm not a big fan of the big slow rounds...  Yeah the mags are an issue for the 6.8, well for a couple weeks at least...  I hear remington is supposed to have factory ammo soon.  Anybody making factory 300 fireball ammo?

Cor-Bon loads .300 Fireball but it's not cheap, but 6.8 isn't cheap either. You can always load up some 110gr Spire Points in the .300 and get about 2400fps. that's not exsactly slow.  Where the .300 really shines is when you put a suppresor on it, then you can load a 240gr sub sonic and really kick some butt. Also, for some reason that heavy bullet tends to tumble on impact and does damage way more then you'd expect. If I had a 270 Winchester bolt gun I might have went with the 6.8 but I can use the same 150gr. FMJ in my .300 an and my 7.5x55mm Swiss so it makes more sense for me to have a .300.  Also, if you have a .308Win/7.62x51mm the .300 Fireball would be a better choice because you could used the same bullets for both. It's up to you,  I had a hard time making up my mind but came to pick the .300 Fireball over the 6.8 at this time.  Maybe in a year or so the 6.8 might be a better choice, but for now I'll stick with the 300. Oh...that hurts...
I have given up on buying any 6.8 ammo until after the first of the year.  I'll have to dust off the Mossburg for deer season, I guess.
It seems that some resourceful reloader out there could make a bit of money...

LOL, I've already got 1000 rounds loaded up for my .300 Fireball. Ammo isn't a problem as long as I can get a hold of small rifle primers, 30cal bullets and powder.

I thought ammo was due out this month...  And I thought the 6.8 would make a decent hunting round from a standard AR15 lower without having to go up to a .308 AR.

The 6.8SPC makes for a very good hunting round where ANY 5.5.6MM load is illegal. It also is better than any 5.56MM loading for more human social occasions. Ammo will be availble. Limit quanties of 6.8SPC brass was availble at Midway, but sold quickly.

Only for varmint hunting at the moment, unless you reload....  Remington doesn't offer any ammo suitable for deer hunting (that I know of anyway).

I do reload 6.8SPC. After the 115gr OTM & Sierra loading are available, I have heard other more suitable bullet loadings will also be made available. As always, we will have too see.

You dont NEED a 6.8 SPC.

Very few people will.

why does anyone NEED a 5.56 AR in the first place????

the only thing people NEED are food, shelter, and water......

guns, women, money cars, expensive shit, etc all fall into the "want" catagory

of course you need a means to protect yourself....but if someone breaks into my house, I'm gonna jam my Ka-bar through their chest bone...for me shooting is a sport first, I don't worry about people trying to kill me all day

Please don't bring only a knife to a gun fight. My Randall #14 is a back up, if needed.

Have you tried the 130 grain Nosler Ballistic Tip?   That would be perfect for whitetails, but I don't know if it's short enough to fit in the 6.8 SPC.

No, I personally have not tried any 130gr, only the Hornaday 110 VMAX. If you check the tacked thread on the 6.8SPC there is other reloading info there, particularly from Zak.
