I'm about to buy a Noveske barrel today and woundering what most people on here would recommend for the barrel length?.....14.5" or 16" Pinning the Vortec FH isn't a problem.

My build consists of:
-billet LaRue upper
-Billet Sun Devil lower
-LaRue 9" quad rail
-RRA 2-stg trigger/LPK

There is no logical reason to choose 14.5" over 16". If you want 14.5" get it, but the advantages of the 16" make it the better decision.

ETA - get the mid gas system on the 16".

Yea, regardless of the opinions on length, EVERYONE seems to recommend the MIDLENGTH gas system! Good call.

I went with the 14.5" Noveske barrel. I just like the look a lot better and you have a 1.5" less hanging off the barrel. A 16"barrel will be another 1.5" longer after your put FH on it.

I decided to buy the 16" version for a few reasons:

-threaded barrel w/ interchangable flash hiders possible
-higher velocity
-if I'm buying a match barrel, might as well get the slight improoved accuracy
-seems like a "happy medium" between SBR and long range rifles.

I like 14.5 with PHANTOMS

Because it makes FOR A BETTER CARBINE  Shoter and Faster

the 16 inch plus bird cage gets kinda long  2 inches or more LONGER than the 14.5 + phantom

You can tell the difference when you run threw the house

But if you want a LONG Carbine go for it

I have a 14.5 and it handles very well and looks pleasing with a mid length rail.

why are you buying a $375 barrel if you don't know what to get?

have you shot out a 14.5 and a 16 to determine your needs and preference?

I thought about buying a Noveske upper with 16in barrel length my self, but does anyone own a noveske with the 18in barrel length?

Your input would help-this is the weekend I decide on which one to get.

If you want the shortest without going with a tax stamp, get the 14.5 with Phantom.  I have a midlength 16" SDI and carbine 14.5" LMT and like the 14.5" better even if the 16" is a so much better because it is a midlength.  There is 1.2" difference by the time you add the extra length of the Phantom on.  Lots of hate for the pinned flash supressors but I have never once in my life contemplated changing a fs so who cares.

I used to have a 16" carbine, and ended up spending the whole time wishing I had something shorter. I had a 20" rifle too, and it 16" wasn't much shorter. Luckily they were stolen and I am replacing the carbine with a 14.5 / vortex.

youll have to change your name to stolen20incher

id say go with the 14.5.  with a perm vortex its short with no flash.  definately go with the medium contour though it balances better.  and everyone should have a 20 inch barrel too.
