After more reading, it seems the PMAGS are purposely undersized to fit both Armalite and DPMS lowers....so it's a function of being universal. Or so they say.

My GEN3s are a little loose in my MaTen. But my LaRue mags are more secure. Both drop free, and the slack is less when loaded.

Does it matter how much play there is? Try it with a loaded mag. If your OCD is acting up, spend more money and buy from a quality manufacturer to begin with.
