Does anybody have the BDC and how do you like it. Im stuck on which one to get as far as the Duplex with turrets or the BDC. I searched and seen a couple reviews but would like to hear more thanks Nate

Looks like the reticule is on the 2nd focal plane. I'm assuming the BDC is only valid on the max magnification setting. Can someone confirm this?

I love my Nikon 3-9x BDC.  Yes, it is only accurate on the highest power.

Does the BDC version not come with turrets (or a different kind of turret than the duplex version) ?

I just ordered the 3-12x42 m223 with nikoplex reticle from primary arms.  It has the rapid action turrets

The BDC verison has MOA turrets

I am not a fan of the nikon BDC reticle.  Too busy for me and the circles do not lend themselves to precise shooting.  I would encourage you to look through one before buying.

See thats what I was thinking but Im hunting with it and the only thing is animals come running the BDC would be easier to dial onto them but I want precision to i was thinking BDC right away but Im now leaning on the duplex with turrets.  Anyone got one mounted On a RRA predator pursuit. Man decisions, decisions.

Check out Primary Arms. I think you will like their price.

I received the M223 mount from them yesterday.  Scope should be here today or tomorrow.  It is going on a Predator Pursuit as well.  I'll try to get pics when it is mounted

I just ordered a M-223 2-8x BDC from Marshall.  (Killer prices, and a $30 BDC rebate from Nikon right now, too.)

My reasoning about why I picked the BDC version:

1) I don't like Duplex reticles (heavy Duplex is OK, but the Nikon isn't).

2) I don't like how Nikon's elevation knob on the Duplex version is pre-engraved for arbitrary ballistics.  Yes, the BDC is arbitrary too, but...

3) With BDC I always have the option of using the BDC function in a hurry or I can dial up using my actual dope for the load in question.

So, my conclusion was that the BDC offered me more - the choice of a "hasty reticle" or dialing up for range.  The rebate is icing on the cake.

I've been contemplating the same decision nikoplex vs. bdc; I'm leaning towards the Nikoplex because the bdc is only accurate on the highest power, and I don't always shoot on the highest power.  Just my .02.

Also is Primary Arms an authorized Nikon dealer to qualify for the rebate??

Thinking the same thing. I guess im just waiting to here from guys that have the nikoplex on how accurate it is. I can not make my mind up. Or guys with the BDC how accurate is it  anybody got reports at diffrent yards. Thanks again Nate

Don't know.  The rebate is only 30 bucks and they are $100 cheaper on the scope than anywhere else I looked.

Ok, another dumb question.  Is the Nikon 20MOA mount required to dial the nikoplex reticle to 600 yards?  Or can the PA deluxe mount handle it?  Also does the Nikon mount clear a troy rear iron? (flipped down of course) Thanks!

I have been a big fan of Nikon BDC reticled scopes for my hunting rifles for a long time. I switched to the Rapid Action Turrets on my M-223 3-12x42SF. I had the pleasure of shooting a guys M-223 scoped AR recently  and I was amazed at how easy and accurate it was. That was my first time ever shooting an AR and I was hooked. I was consistantly hitting a 10 inch metal target at 600 tards! I have a tricked out bolt action .223 I am going to mount the same scope on as soon as it arrives. I never shot that rifle over 300 yards in the past, now it's clear sailing to 600!
If you haven't looked at these scopes you need to.Check out the M-223 mount to, it matches the scope perfectly.

The 2-8 barley clears a Troy without the rear flip. With flip no. 3-12 No.

So if the 2-8 will barely clear a folded down Troy, it definitely will NOT clear a MBUS, right? As far as the 2-8 barely clearing the Troy, is that in reference to  the Nikon M-223 mount? A Larue LT-104 should clear it. I'm trying to get as many opinions as possible to put a good combo together on my Noveske N4 Recce. I'm leaning toward the M-223 2-8 Nikoplex, and the Troy folding rear battlesight. Maximum range out to 400yds. I'm steady trying to learn, and you all are a big help. Thanks.

I have  another question in regards to primary arms not being an authorized dealer of nikon products...Since a lot of time warranties are only valid if purchased through an authorized dealer will we be getting screwed out of a lifetime warranty?

So have any of you guys that own the 3-12 BDC tried any other 55g bullet besides the recommended ballistic tips? I compared the ballistic charts on some of the other bullets and a few are pretty close. I'm just curious if any has tried them after sighting in the the 55g BT and how far off the scope was. Hopefully someone has already done this and I won't have to spend a bunch of extra time at the range!

I went to a Nikon shoot last week and used the M223.

THere is no doubt that the BDC is very fast in changing distance compared to Nikoplex. We did timed events shooting out to 400 yds and the BDC could do 5 shots at 200,300,400,300,200 in less than 6 seconds.

My old eyes couldnt see the BDC very well as they are small, so if you have old eyes the Nikoplex is the way to go.

The warranty or rebate is not a issue. Like many dealers across the country we buy from a master wholesale distributor. That makes us a Nikon dealer for warranty and rebate purposes.

Well then, I'm in for the rebate.

I will be mounting it up Friday night and sighting it (3x12x42BDC) in this weekend. I will try to post results on Sunday. I am only going to my local spot (end of my road) which is good to 400yds since the bridge to our 1000yd is being rebuilt and it add about 30 miles to the trip the longer distances will have to wait.

You need the 20MOA mount with the Nikoplex. We have them in stock.

I will have to check tomorrow to be 100% sure but it should clear the Troy. Hopfully someone will verify tonight.

Did I read correctly?  The Nikon scopes with BDC reticle will not shoot to 600 yds without the Nikon 20 MOA mount?

No. The Nikoplex reticle with the BDC turrets does.

Whew.  The Nikon 3-12 with BDC is on my short list and Primary Arms is at the top for it, but I want to stick it on a LaRue or Bobro QR mount.

I also went with the 20 MOA mount on a 2-8x BDC because I want the ability to use the BDC for quick shots but still dial up when I have the time.  I'm trying the idea of using the BDC as a "hasty reticle".

Looks like the Nikon brand mount made for that scope. Has 20 MOA of slope so you can use the target turrets up to 600yds

Well, I finally made it to range with my new 3x12-42 nikoplex version and so far, I really like the scope.  I mounted it on a RRA predator pursuit.

I compared the scope to a 5 year old Nikon Monarch UCC 4-12x40 that I have, and the M223 is a little brighter.

The scope tracks very well.  Sighting in was a breeze.  Nikon has definitely improved the hand turn windage and elevation adjustments.  My older UCC has mushy clicks, whereas the clicks on the new M223 are audible and positive.

I haven't had a chance to try the BDC feature yet.  I've only shot out to 100 yds, but was getting 1" groups with crappy PMC 55 gr ammo.  For the money, this scope is hard to beat.
