Uh grind, grind some more, look at it, grind some more, a little more, straighten it up with a mill file, sand some, a little more, TLAR. Mix a little fiberglass resin, tint with Arcaglass black dye, let set overnight. Straighten it out with the mill file again then final sand, done. Total work time thirty min plus overnight setup time.

Type C/D stocks are gay not that there's anything wrong with that but they can be sex changed and then everybody is happy.

I was thinking of getting that green stock on GB, not.

I've always wondered if there was enough material there to do this.

Yes but where are the "in progress" pics?

I was expecting you to come out looking like this from your description.

At least that's how I would end up.

That looks fantastic!!!  Really like it.

I just happened to receive 4 of those stocks from Numrich about 2 weeks ago.  Looks like another project to try.  If it turns out looking OK, I'll probably give it a faux bakelite & green paint job.

Very nice repro.  Did you go so far as to "thin" the stock to match the Type A measurements, or focus just on the wrist profile?
Either way, it's obvious there's a lot of effort there!

I'd encourage people to NOT do this to a Type C, though!  Not enough of those around to start hacking on them!
Type Ds are still pretty plentiful, though.

This got me to thinking, if there's a repop type A waiting inside every type D, then there's a real type A stock inside every type B.

I took this off my 601.

Made tape lines to make the cuts. I wanted to take off a little at a time to avoid going too far.

I put a small thin cutting wheel on the dremel, I figured slower is better.

Then I promptly took the tape off, put my cutting tools away and screwed the stock back on my gun, grateful that I have it.

Oh dear God - when I read the first line I started having heart palpitations. Don't do this to your older retro brothers this early in the morning

I'm sorry, it was the most evil thing I could think of this morning.

The only thing worse would be to cut down a set of green handguards for a 607, or cut down a 1/14 barrel to make a carbine.

Oh... That's frowned on?  Mine makes for a great .22 carbine with a conversion.
