I have seen balistics test on Handgun ammo but not on .223/5.56 does any one have any links and does it matter if I'm using it for practice or is it just a if SHTF ammo?

Personally, I've never really understood anything but FMJ .223. 5.56/.223 uses fragmentation as the primary wounding method, and this method is very effective. As far as I understand, JHP hinders the fragmenting process, as it just causes a mushroom. So, in effect, you're really shooting a heavier JHP .22. For the range they'd be fine, but I personally wouldn't rest my life on it.
