I do not have an AR yet, but after the ban expires and evil features are back I am going to purchase an M4 style one, all I want to know is what company, and what setup should I buy?

Bushmaster or RRA arms will be your best choice for finding one.

I myself am planning on adding another Pony to the stable, COLT baby......but it will be a few months before that happenes.

Welcome.

First thing is warm up your credit card, it'll get used alot if you hang around here too long.

Check out this link.  This guy is selling Colts at a very good price and you can't go wrong with Colt.  If not Colt, then Bushmaster.  RRA will do in a pinch.

Will all the accesories online fit colts and bushmasters or do they vary?

The thing about AR's is that most/all parts are supposed to be standardized in terms of sizes.  So everything except really specialized stuff 'should' fit.  However, there is some colt stuff that has different hole sizes like fire control parts or the pins that hold the upper to the lower.  Otherwise, most other manufacturers should make interchangeable parts.

I personally like RRA for most of my parts.

For the price I think the Oly is a good base to build on.

Will the AR's after the ban cost much more with the evil features?

What'll be the availability of Colt's after the ban? I hear most people saying there will be a bag log of many months for guns that are not in stock when the ban ends.

Hey there everybody! As far as set up goes , what do you intend to do with it ? You had said M-4 so I imagine a carbine type but from there are you interested in an entry type gun or general battle rifle configuration ? I personally have a Bushmaster varmint gun and a pre-ban Oly CAR. The Oly is ok as it goes bang everytime I pull the trigger but I like my Bushmaster for doing that plus being made very well and having the options of glass or irons which it will shoot extremely accurate with both . I've heard a lot of good things about RRA also and will probably have one of those when money permits. take care. Coondog

I went with a bushmster M-4 type not long ago and love it. It's only drawback is the minni Y comp.

The AWB didn't mean that much to me to induce waiting. I went ahead last week and bought the Bushmaster XM15 2ES   20" H-Bar, my only ban-related issues was the magazines and I ordered a few pre-ban 20 and 30 rnd and picked up two 20 rnds at a gun show this past weekend. I've a very happy AR owner.  The one advantage I see to RRA is their "Lifetime warranty" but I'm sure it's limited.

I'm going to be shopping for an M4 Carbine once the ban sunsets...

Hey!

I don't see the dealers throwing open their doors after the AWB sunsets screaming "everything is 70% off".  There obviously will be a feeding frenzy for a short time with the various dealers competing for your business. They ain't gonna give it away! If you have the funds there are good deals out there now, especially if your willing to build from parts. You can always "add on" after the ban sunsets.
