Looking a getting an AR and was wondering how the DMPS rifles are. I'm looking for a varmint or target version, wanting to get a good coyote gun. What do you guys suggest?

Check these threads-

The search button is your friend..

There has been quite a few threads about DPMS lately.

I will add this- I have used DPMS for years with zero problems.

I have two DPMS rifles and they are great.

One is a M4 set up, and the other is a 16" bull barrel target/varmint gun.

DPMS is - by popularity means - a middle of the pack maker

Their small parts, barrels, and such are 2nd tier, but it may be difficult to find users who will bitch about them, since they work.

Price wise- a DPMS complete rifle generally sells for $100-$200 less than RRA, Bushmaster or Armalite

Make of that what you will.

But they'd make a pretty good dogsniper!

Took mine to the range for the second time today. It started out as a Commando flat top upper, 11.5" barrel with 5.5" perm flash hider. Liked the whole thing so much I ordered a 6pos DPMS lower to go with it. 20 degrees outside. 180 rounds each time-zero problems. No complaints.

Good stuff, I highly recommend a DPMS rifle.

Opinions vary based on experience and the knowledge of the rifleman..

From me being fairly new, I could not be happier.

They answered all my questions and did not seem to be annoyed with my probably what seemed to be
basic simple questions.

They stand behind their products and fix things promptly and for free if you do have any issues.

Price and quality are very favorable when considering DPMS products.

DPMS is a good rifle. I've had good results with them.

Welcome to the site! You might want to go to the Iowa hometown forum and post. Lots of great people from Iowa on this site.

What about the arctic panther, pretty nice looking gun. Anybody know if the reciever is dipped or just coated on the outside. If it is dipped, is there a downfall to having the coating in the reciever.
