Hello! I just aquired my first AR and am fired up about it! I've only fired an AR a couple of times in the past and am unfamiliar with some of the basics to it ( although I've learned a bit from reading this site).
Anyway I have gotten a Colt AR15 A2 Sporter 2 (S/n SP 348xxx) from a friends collection and it is in unfired condition (a shame soon to be remedied). The marks on the barrel indicate a 1/7 twist. I am looking for a little advise on the best ammo to use and what the break-in procedure should be. Any advise about and/or information on this weapon would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! JC1 out.

sounds like it would be worth some money to me. Sell it and get a beater

I'm sure you'll get a lot of people telling you this, but for ammo questions there is a site called the Ammo Oracle. It's fuul of info regarding ammo.

Welcome aboard and congrats on the new rifle!

If you bought the rifle to shoot it - then go out and shoot it! No particular break-in regimen needed. Just shoot it!

If you got it for investment purposes (because it may be worth something to collectors), then keep it and get a beater.
