My brother recently had me put together his first rifle. We decided to take off work yesterday to break in the new rifle on the 100 meter range and I was very impressed with the outcome.

Spikes lower:
RRA 2 stage trigger
DPMS parts kit
Magpul PRS in mail
Mueller 4.5-14 APT
RRA Cantilever 30mm mount

Wilson Combat upper:
E.R. Shaw 24" fluted bull barrel 1:8
Forget who makes the Match BCG
MI Extended Free float tube in the mail

My brother shot 5 shots of PMC 55grain for this group

and 5 shots of American Eagle XM193 for this group

He is new to centerfire rifles and well... worked all summer for this rig, but now needs to learn technique.
I am by no means the best with precision but I have had practice.

After a long 3 hours of watching him break in the rifle I got my turn to play around.
First group feeling for the rifle was shot with the 55 grain PMC

After getting a feel for it I now went to compair the PMC to the XM193

Fist group is with PMC

Second group is a 3 shot group with XM193

The pmc measured at 1.1"
and the American Eagle XM193 measured at 0.5"

All shooting was done from a bench with front and rear sandbags.

Considering you were using XM-193,  I'd say there is nothing wrong with you guys' shooting at all.    Normally if i saw an XM193 100 yard group like that, i'd say that is about max performance   ––-   the groups'll get a lot smaller with better ammo too

Nice looking build as well

I sure hope the groups get smaller than 0.5" when we try some heavier grain hornadys or even with hand loads. I just doubt I can shoot much better personaly.

Goodness –– i guess i glanced over the part where you said the groups were .5"     I was thinking they were around an inch ,  but didn't know the scale of the targets ––-

1/2 inch accuracy at a hunsky is as good as i can shoot with a 14 pound benchrest rifle  and dedicated handloads !      The best my rifles (AR's )  do with XM 193  is usually 2 - 2.5" .     Given they are already shooting 1/2 an inch with what a lot of people regard as plinking ammo,  I'd say you did eberything right with that build.   Once again –– great shooting, gents

Well both the mi 15" fde tube and magpul fde prs came in looking very nice.
We just have to locate a new low prow gas block and rifle extension tube.
