Hey guys been reading and getting as much info as I can off here for alittle over a month now and finally figured out how to get a legal email for this site lol.
Well anyway I picked up a m&p15 sport a few weeks ago from a friend, he only had 150rds through it and I've put another 150 since I've had it. I absolutely love it! And iam currently starting my first build too :)
Well here's a few pics and just would like to thank you guys for this site and the wealth of knowledge it provides!

Parts I have so far for the build are
DD lpk
Bcm bcg
Bcm gunfighter charging handle
Spikes t2 buffer tube

Going to pick up a striped lower locally next week, and thinking about going with a bcm 14.5 mid length for the upper.

Why don't you just use the lower from the sport, sell the upper, and build a really nice upper?

Why would he do that? The Sport has a nice upper and if he just swapped it, he'd still just have 1 AR? Sounds like he's already building a really nice upper and doesn't have to sell anything.

Yeah I really want to build a whole other rifle I can't keep the sport out of my dads hands anyways lol. Plus I wanna do a midlenght system.

Sweet. Good start and your off to phase 2 in a hurry. I have the M&P OR and just built a middie. Both run great.

Why should he build a "really nice upper" when he already has one?! Way to diss a guy's rifle!

The Sport has a helluva nice upper... melonite hardness treatment and the 5R rifling make it something special, especially for the money. So it doesn't have a forward assist or a dust cover. He's likely not rolling around in the sand.  I've got a Sport tucked away as an addition to the other ARs and it's more accurate than my Colt 6920. No fooling.

Enjoy the Sport! It's a great little rifle. Mine has never failed, it was reasonably priced and does the job... I defy anyone to come and stand in front of the muzzle! :)

Good choice, the M&P Sport is a great rifle to start with.

+1

I also have the M&P OR, but I made some modifications to it that doesn't make it look like an OR any more lol.

Well just left the range I put 300rds through it, no issues what so ever! I lubed it up before I left, after 200rds I took the bcg and lubed it and then went back at it :)

I go shooting every weekend with my neighbor who has the sport. It was what he could afford, and we shoot 2-300 threw our AR's every weekend with no problems. As a matter of fact, he does not have the kind of time like I do to clean after every range session, and has skipped cleaning the last three times with no problems still. He is also new to the platform, and hasn't bothered to at least lube it either.

I count at least 4-600 rounds without cleaning or lube. That's a pretty decent rifle for the price

As long as that S&W lower is forged, and in spec enough to install the DD lower parts kit with no big hangups, I would save that $100 for something else. You probably won't even notice any difference between the two.

Iam building a whole new rifle and keeping the sport how it is. Getting the spikes lower and I'll be doing a bcm 14.5 midlength upper
I just put the bcg and charging handle in the sport to try them out :)

Well had my first FTF today. I was shooting 70 m196 tracer rounds and with about 10rds left I pulled the trigger and click, no boom.
So I looked at it and noticed the bolt wasn't all the way forward. I guess a forward assist is handy... Lol but anyway, so I dropped the clip out, pulled the charging handle and noticed the round was in the chamber, so I let the bolt fly forward it seated all the way, shot the round popped the clip back in and went back at it.

http://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k298/gnarkill_89/18933377.jpg

So a tad bit over 1k rounds and only 1 FTF so far and it was no biggie. I must say for the money you can't beat this sport man. Damn good rifle and deadly accurate!
Just thought I'd share, I know Alot of the ar snobs are waiting for one of these to blow up in somebody's face cause there cheap but I hate to break it to them. As long as the operator knows what there doing and keeps the rifle clean and lubed up I don't foresee these things having any sort of major malfunction if they all cycle like the one I got :)
