Very nice.

It looks just like Kevin's URX mid-length.

It looks like Wes hooked you up.

Sweet piece Neil.

I see you have your scope mounted like I do - shoved all the way forward in the Larue mount. I run my Magpul one notch farther out that on my other guns and I still find myself wishing for an SPR-E mount.

Something about a 10 lb carbine I find comforting too...

Very nice, but bsbg and I both know you're missing a PVS14 our M.U.M

Hey Neil nice set up. I still think it would look even better with an LMT stock. But that gun is SWEET!!

When you come back from the Pat Rogers Class, let us know what type of ARs you see out there. I'm curious to see how many guys carry just plain jane carbines with iron sights?

Also who makes that rail? Or did I miss it?

Jake.

It was at that class that I first saw the Short Dot. One of the guys helping was Hilton Yam, he had one. I used a ACOG as did another guy. Everyone else was Aimpoints, except for the two guys who would have been better off with plain guns. Both had the same ATN dot sights. At least thats what I think they were. Neither of them made it through the class.

Duffy, I was just talking to new-argirl the other night saying how I should really start thinkning about some NV. Hmmmmmmmmm.

You better not, it only gets worse from then. Once you have a decent NV optic you'll want an IR laser mounted as well. .....In short you will reach a whole new addiction level. You might get more joy out of a class III weapon than 2 gen 3 NV optics.

But Gen 1 optics are decently priced.

You'd make KevinB proud with your parts choice

Is your KAC 2-stage trigger the old style or the new style? If it's the new style, what do you think about it? I know a lot of people prefer the newer style because you don't have to worry about the springs wearing out (potentially changing the pull\weight of the trigger) but for me, I like the old style better as it seems to be a much simpler design with no set screws to worry about. What's your take on it?

That scope sounds pretty sweet but if I recall the price correctly, you could afford to buy a Aimpoint and an ACOG with quick detach mounts for both and just switch back and forth for the same money! Your way is much better I'm sure but I'm just being jealous because I can't afford one

Righto, but I'm sure NAG will reach the same conclusion I did: after the customization/optimization I could do to an AR (or all of them), there's but one place to go from there: low light
Roughly 1/2 of the 24 hours is low light/night environment, I think we'd be remiss to only cover the other half

By the way, whose muzzle device are you running on that? Vortex?

From what I understand, the new style KAC triggers use some kind of set screw to adjust pull weight as opposed to the old style were you just used a different spring? If your trigger doesn't have any set screws then you apparently have the old style?

I've never had either so I going by what I've read.

SWFA lists them with the following reticles (listed in the order their website lists them):

Flash Dot #8

Flash Dot #7

Flash Dot #2

Flash Dot #9

Interestingly SWFA's website shows the entire inner circle illuminated on the #9, but the S&B website shows as above.

The S&B website also shows the reticle below, which I guess is the one that NAG got

Called the CQB Reticle

Mighty awesome rifle, great job!
I really have got to see one of those scopes for myself.

For any one who is interested, here are scans of the instructions of my KAC 2-stage trigger.
My model came with only the 4.5lb spring, and I have no need to change it.

With the exception of the barrell(Lilja),flash hider and optics that is excatly what I am building. I am in the process of locating a URX right now and I think my journey has come to a glorious ending. Sweet setup and I am looking forward to a range report. I think we are going to have a carbine class here in OK so if your in the area I would love to see that thing shoot.

You are mistaken. There has never been a KAC trigger with no set screws. Current versions still have both a 3.5# and 4.5# spring that is swapped for total weight just like the old version. I dont know where you got this bad info but its bad.

There was, in fact, an older version with ONE set screw instead of TWO. However there was never a non set screw version. The second set screw allows you to adjust the weight for the first vs second stage a tiny amount of weight and some overtravel but total weight remains close to the same and must be swapped with the two springs as before to get large shifts. It comes with 4.5# installed and I prefer the 3.5# spring installed. This in no way decreases the reliability of the trigger (the second set screw). You want the current version of the trigger IMO.

I'm a long time lurker, with only a few posts, but that rifle is aboslutely gorgeous. That is exactly my vision of the perfect Recce rifle, for me that is. You must of read my mind and stole all my fantasy build ideas. The URX, KAC Front sight, 2 satge trigger all the parts made from unobtainium. Follow that up with the Noveske mid-length barrel, S&B Short Dot, Larue Mount, Magpul stock and grip. You the man! I would try to buy it from you, but I don't think you want to sell it to me for $32.78. But in case I'm wrong IM me
