I just got a Burris 4.5-14x scope for my M4. Does anyone care to guess how close to zero it will be right out of the box? The mount is a Burris P.E.P.R.

There is no way of knowing how close to zero it will be out of the box. Way too many variables and which optic you have is irrelevant. You can bore sight the optic, to be on paper when you get to the range but anything less than actually zeroing it with live fire is a guesstimate.

Why do you ask this question?

No need to guess.. sight down the bore and you tell us.

Crack the M4 in half, and remove the bolt so you can sight down the bore.

Find something object at ~25-50y and prop up the upper half so that you can see the object through the bore and also through the sight (without touching the scope). Adjust scope until it's about lined up with the bore. Now you're probably within a foot or so at 50y.
