I looked at those 1911's and WOW!!
Maybe the purists know different, but they look outstanding to me

Rock River makes only hardcore competition pistols for IDPA, NRA Bullseye, and CMP Excellence In Competition. Some are adaptable to concealed carry.
I've been thinking where to spend more of my gun money, and no matter how I slice it, a decent quality M4gery is going to be at least 1200 bucks including optics. And for what? I don't shoot "tactical" comps. I'm a bullseye target shooter.
So my options are as follows:
- Buy a beater M1 from the CMP for $395 and have it tuned up to the max for HP: $2000.
- Buy a basic M1A and have it tuned up to the max for HP: $3000
- Buy an Anschutz match air rifle to shoot in my basement during these boring winters: $1500
- Buy a RRA NM service pistol: $1500.
Since I already have to kick ass HP target rifles (AR service rifle and Model 70 match rifle), blowing 2 to 3K on another one makes no sense (I already have a rack grade CMP Garand). With the 3K that an M1A would set me back I can buy the RRA 1911 AND a basic carbine.
