That /\ sounds very interesting to me assuming they kick the daytime Illumination up and keep the price and weight down

none of which is likely I know

Interesting lineups from both companies. I don't even want to know the price point of the MK8 scopes though

Guessing those Bushnell prices are full tilt boogie MSRP...street prices hopefully a whole lot less

Six-to-one zoom??? Eight-to-one zoom????

I call BS. This is someone's wish list. Heck, it's MY wish list. I noticed there are no prices.

If it is real, I wonder what happened to the optical quality, because something was traded off somewhere to get 8:1 zoom ratio.

Why oh why would Leupy's 1-6x with a 34mm tube have only a 20mm objective? I hope that is a misprint. Otherwise, shame on them for simply using objective lenses from their 1" tube scopes!

They need to re-introduce the Leupold Prismatic with a 1.5x magnification and a better battery life, and they would blow away the Trijicon TA44 on price point alone.

Maybe. The post was by SWFA.

6 to 1 is nothing new. Swarovski has had is for awhile. 8 to 1 is somewhat new. The 8 to1 is going to be NOT cheap....think $2500+

While it may not be new, as in never been done before, it certainly is new to Leupold and new to most/all/vast majority of optics on the commercial marketplace. Look around, if you haven't already. Almost all optics are 3X. Even spotting scopes are usually limited to 3X zoom ratio. Some are 4X zoom factors, but even this comes at a price (optical quality or cash or both).

But, you know, that wasn't really the point. The point is something had to be traded off to get that zoom ratio. I wonder what compromises were involved in these designs.

IIRC, the 1.1-8x Leupolds have been running about for about 6+ so months now. Trade off is that they cost about the same as 3 Colt rifles. IIRC something in the ball park of 2,500-3,000 for a single scope. So, trade of seems to be: sell your right kidney.

Correct - 1-8 is not new. Luepold introduced their first 1-8 last year (Luepold CQBSS) Completely bad ass scope but way more money then most of us can afford or justify. That's why I'm hoping their new 1-6x M6 list above may be a more affordable version of that scope?

BTW - Leupold is not the only one with a 1-8x (or at least has one in the works). S&B, Nightforce and Premier all either have one or are actively working on one.

None of this is "new". March Riflescopes have been doing these kind of zoom ratios for years.

34 MM on the VX-6?? On their website (swfa), they show to be 30MM. I hope they are 34 though. They also show to be about 800 bucks. 9080

The new one will be the Mark 6, not to be confused with the VX-6

Obviously YOU haven't been keeping up with current optics.

1-4x has long since been the norm.

1-8x scopes have been announced and are being made by Leupold, Premier Reticle, Schmidt and Bender to name a few.
