OK, everyone likes pics, here ya' go!

Hi All,

Back in '94, I bought a Colt Match HBAR, but had to sell it a few months after, due to an unexpected lay-off...I've regreted that transaction ever since.

Well, today I put money down towards a Rock River Arms CAR UTE, post ban with the A2 stock & mid-length handguard. I'm stoked!

A case of S&B ammo is on the way from Natchez, and 4 mil-spec 30-rounders are on there way from AK. I also picked up some various accessories from Denny's Guns...

It's good to get a black rifle again!

Here's the new baby, just brought home...

Just got back from the range, where I shot various ammo through the RRA's 16" barrel.

Average of 10 shots, with the difference from high to low velocity.

Winchester 55gr 40rnd bulk pack - 2856fps 147fps

S&B 55gr - 3076fps 62fps

Federal/LC XM193 - 55gr 3094fps 39fps

PMC 55gr - 2720fps 150fps

DynaMax 55gr (reloads) 2946fps 156fps

My gun really liked the PMC. I kept a 20-shot group just inside 3 1/8" @100yds. Everything else shot about 5"-6" groups. All shooting was done with the factory sights, which were well-regulated right out of the box.

Russ, I too have an RRA but it's the tactical entry.  Somehow my best groups were with the PMC also. This rifle will eat all kinds of ammo including the Wolf with out any hiccups.[50]

Question...

On the right side of the Elevated Optical Platform (EOP) there is a removable knurled knob, it has an O-ring to seal it, & a spring inside, like it should retain a battery.

What is it? & what's it's purpose?

russ, I believe thats to hold a battery for red dot optics.

Congrats on the rra

You can get tighter groups (should you want to) by handloading.

But Iron sights, fmj ammo, 5-6" is all i get too.

Same rifle, scope, sandbags, and handloaded match ammo, I get under 1" easily.

I'm getting ready to buy an RRA rifle.  Glad to hear you love it.  Just can't make up my mind on what to buy and it's killing me!!!!!

Russ...

You were correct about the removable knob on the side of your receiver.  It is storage for an extra battery, if you have a red-dot type optic.  Get a new Aimpoint with CET and you won't have to worry about the battery....they last for ever, well almost..

You will love your RRA....I have a 16" Tactical Entry and it is great.

I have two RRA's on the way.
1-20 varminter
1-16 m4 entry

I can't wait any longer.

I did a whole lot more shooting yesterday...around 400+ total. No problems at all.

I put a Wally-World $30 Tasco Red-Dot on it, and it actually works pretty well! I have a hard time trying to convince myself to spend upwards of $400 for the Aimpoint set-up...I coulsd get a different upper instead!

RussB, way to go, make sure you don't rub the finish off of it by holding it too much :)
