All,

Joined the site a couple of days ago and have been browsing the different areas of it. Pretty impressed by the knowledge and passion over the AR15/M4/M16 that some of y'all have. Also like the layout of the site.

About me. I'm an 11B4V stationed at Ft Bragg. Just bought a Bushmaster Carbon 15 Mod 4. Still looking for optics, tho.

Look forward to posting and sharing info with you

Mike

Welcome.

Is this the part where one of us tells him he needs an EOTech - then other writes no what he needs is an Aimpoint for the Bushy? Then the thread degenerates into an other EOTech vs Aimpoint argument?

P.S. You NEED that EOTech

Hi there,

I am also somewhat new to the AR world ( actually, I am a "re-new". I haden't touched an AR (m-16) since I got out of the Corps in 81--- until 8 months ago)

I also have a Bushmaster, and I love the little thing. It's super accurate with the right handloads. I have been compleatly happy with a standard 4X scope. For a reason I am un-aware of, the Weaver K4, Pentax 4X and Burris 4X are not ever talked about in this site, but I have been using a 4X on mine for months, and it's great. i have it sighted in at 200 yards with 69 gr. match kings. I also have tactical handguards, so I can (and do) use a light for night shooting, and I killed a fox with it at night at about 100 yards, and a few wild cats at about 35-50 yards A GOOD 4X scope is all I could ever ask for in a sight.

I'm of the same opinion but standard inexpensive optics arent tactical enough for this sight. It doenst have any rails on it or take 3 different kinds of batteries.

I prefer a 3-9 that remains zoomed at 3x so you get a good high speed quick acquisition optic but you also get a larger objective so you can collect more light around dusk. Plus they have good eye relief and other bonus's.

I struck the offending words so as not to confuse him.

Welcome to the board! You seem like an squared away individual, so I look forward to hearing about your new Aimpoint M2 or ML2 or ACOG when you get it!

Thanx to all those who've replied

Choices, choices, choices. I've used 3x & 4x's with my service rifle before, to good effect.

My last trip to Iraq my squad leaders and PL had ACOG's and the hooah's had M68's (Aimpoints). During Asscrackistan, I was pretty much sold on the ACOG as THE sight for a rifle. Then we went to Iraq. After about a month and a half, I re-mounted my M68. Nothing against the ACOG...fine sight, very rugged, very reliable. But for the scraps we were getting in, the Aimpoint was handier 90% of the time.

Probably gonna go with an Aimpoint, since I've used one for the last 5 years or so and know it better. Heading off to D.C. this week for the Assn. of the U.S. Army national convention...plenty of vendors to talk to and lots of toys to see.

Talk to yall later,

Mike

PS - I haven't figgered out how to put a signature on my posts here. How do y'all do that here?

abnsfc,

there is a selection at the top of the page that is labeled EDIT PROFILE

it is there --under signature

I cannot remember whether it is a Team Member thing or for anyone

Team Memberships are available from the AR15 Store and are as little as $20 and offer other benefits including other forums, an Avatar (picture under name), and status/rank in the ARFARMY

welcome aboard

All,
Appreciate all the positive support. Just got back from the AUSA convention. LOADS of cool stuff there. One of the coolest vendor displays was from Diamondback Tactical. Those guys were friendly and knowledgeable about what a military or an LE operator needs on his/her bod. One of the most interesting concepts was their holster system. Instead of a padded paddle behind the holster, the paddle is a rectangle of level 3A armor to protect the outer thigh. Very cool.

Checked the "Edit Profile" page. No add signature block. I guess that's for paid members. Thanks for the info tho.

Mike
