I always said I would never own an AR pistol and i had no desire to own one but that all changed. I just recently got to shoot a buddy's AR pistol with a KAK super tube and a Sig brace. I was hooked! I couldn't wait to get my own so I bought a BCM upper and Ibuilt up a PSA lower . Here's what I ended up with" />

Fun stuff huh?

Have you ordered the parts for the 7.5" yet?

I am debating that now. Not sure if I want to do a 300 Black or a 556.

I felt the same way you did, then the Sig Brace came along.
I haven't picked up a pistol yet, but will by the end of the year.

Nice, now go build a 10.5 and a 7.5, you know you want to.

.300 or 5.56? You can shoot 3X the ammo with 5.56, it's that much cheaper. Unless you have some specific ballistic reason to go big on the bullet and payload it's going to cost more to shoot it.

The more you shoot, the better you are, the better shot placement is, the less you need to bandaid downrange effects with a bigger bullet. 5.56 from a 10.5 is plenty fast and you can get 77 gr bullets if you need more impact. Even so, 5.56 out of a 10.5 is still plenty good for deer hunting under 125 yards - which is the majority of shots in broken edge and woodland. Or as a PDW in almost any situation.

.300 is the cartridge of the month, sure. It's not 3X better for the cost of the ammo. Not even. That's what the 6.5 and 6.8 shooters have discovered, and I'm still waiting for $12 a box plinker ammo for my 6.8. $8 a box 5.56 is there now.

Just one point of view. I'm building a 5.56.

I have the 11.5" gun so I really want something shorter than a 10.5 upper. Will probably build something under 8".

I didn't either until I saw the complete premium 12" upper on PSA for $400 shipped.
Good times ensued.
