Can anyone provide me a copy of instructions for a SIR 45M? I bought mine already mounted on a rifle and I did not receive any instructions. I want to be able to remove the SIR for maintenance of the rifle.
I have emailed ARMS 3 times (got a response the first time and that was it) and have given up on them.
How can someone that makes such a great product, totally drop the ball on service? Doesn't instill much confidence in me to spend more money on their products if this is what their customer service is like.
Here's a set of text instructions they faxed me a while back.
Before crying "Poor CS" I would have given them a call. In these days of excess spam, email filtering etc you can never assume someone is just ignoring you. I say this based on 7 years of employment as tech support supervisor, then general office manager of an internet service provider.
Anyway, hope this helps:
Before installation, remove the handguard, the receiver crossbar clamp and the
barrel nut yoke from the S.I.R.tm .
Step 1: With the crossbar rail that attaches the S.I.R.tm to the receiver
removed, place the upper S.I.R.tm segment into position on the receiver from
the front until it stops and the crossnotches are aligned.
Step 2: With the S.I.R.tm upper in position, insert the three square rods
through the cross notches until the sidebar engages the receiver and the
S.I.R.tm , with the threaded ends of each rod now protruding through the
opposite side, screw each one of the nuts back onto the rods and tighten. (Do
not overtighten, we suggest using the provided loctite when securing the nuts)
Step 3(C-Models): With the upper portion of the S.I.R.tm secured to the
receiver, place it upside-down. With a screwdriver placed behind the center of
the barrel nut prongs, pull back the delta ring and insert the yoke over the
prongs until it drops into position.
Step 3A(M-Models): The M-model S.I.R. requires the rear delta ring assembly
to be removed and eliminates the need of step 3. All other installation
instructions remain the same for both C and M models.
Step 4: With the yoke in position secure it to the S.I.R. upper with the 4
screws provided. (Do Not overtighten, we suggest using the provided loctite
when securing the screws).
Step 5: After releasing the two rear spring loaded buttons and any securing
screws on other attachments , the S.I.R. lower handguard can be detached by
pushing it forward approximately 1” and pulling downward to disengage, or all
the way forward off the track. Re-Attaching can be accomplished in the same
manner. With the interlocking lugs spaced between each other and locked onto
the rail track on one side, the lower handguard can be slapped into the track
and pulled rearward to the locking position.
Step 6: To lock the handguard into place, push in the spring loaded buttons at
the rear and turn them so the slots with the scallop are facing downwards. You
should feel them lock into place. Push in and secure the captive accessory
rail screws (do not overtighten). All lower handguard screws can be
tightened/released either with a coin or with the flathead blade built into
the underside of the supplied sling swivel.
Thanks for the reply VTDefender. Point taken on the customer support issue.
I will take the instructions posted and try them out. Thanks again!!
I would also recommend giving them a call, I distribute their product and have had great success on the phone.
