What would the value be of a pre-ban Colt AR-15 A2 Government model?

A friend is considering selling it and I have to give him an offer.  I am not 100% sure of condition.  Probably around 90%.

I was thinking it would be worth around $1000.

Thanks for the help in adavance.

I would be thinking more like $800.

Yes, around 750-800. I bought my Colt Match Target H-Bar AR-15A2 last year and mine was "$899".

750-800 would be a good price for it. Wish I had friends like that to buy off of :-)

Depends who you sell it to, it might be worth ALOT more to those in the ban states.

Those pre-ban HBARs are usually chrome-lined whereas new ones are not.  Whether that's a plus or minus, I don't know - I prefer chrome.

I paid 1000 for the GS preban model I bought during the ban. I would not want to get rid of it for less just because it is still a preban for some locations and I really feel it was worth what I paid even if there had been no ban. The only rifle I have I like better is a preban Eagle Arms Gov. Model and I paid 1000 for it also. Both are 99% condition.

But if I was buying one I sure would try to get it for less if I could.
