Hey guys, I am upgrading my midlength lar-8, and I want to be able to have a scope along with a close range option (red dot or irons).

What I have on it so far- a Nikon prostaff mounted with medium quick-release leupold scope rings.  It's currently a tad too low; it becomes uncomfortable when looking down it for extended periods of time. Also, I'm right handed.

So I have a few options here:

1.  My first thought- raise the scope; put flip up sights under it.  Good if I expect to only look down the scope, but I'd like to not have to take off the scope to use the irons.

2.  Angle mount the scope using YHM dovetail angle mounts, then have irons normally positioned.  I read that instead of zeroing the scope, you can sight it so it runs parallel to the bullets flight path, and it won't hit exactly where the crosshairs are, but it will only be about 1.5 inches off (distance from crosshair center to bore center) If I zero the scope, shots furthur than the zero point will be increasingly tough to hit.  The issue here is to mount the scope either to the left- this SEEMS like it will be even easier to look down, but there's a chance I won't be able to get an effective cheek weld.  Or I could mount it to the right in which case a slight turn of the rifle counter-clockwise would bring the scope in to my vision, and my cheek weld would remain constant.  Another plus to having the scope on the right is that the scope would block my vision less.

3.  I could leave the scope cenetered over the bore, then use a Daniel Defense 1 o' clock mount to put a red dot slightly off to the side (the DD mount could be attached to a side rail up front, vertically, or under the scope on the flat top, horizontally- which is better? I understand the former is what it seems to be engineered for, judging by the picture on DD's website), With this setup, I'd could even have BUIS underneath.  The problem here is that I'd prefer my close range option to be iron sights. I feel like I have a better view of my surroundings with open sights vs. a closed tube.

4.  There's the Warne R.A.M.P- to me, a more expensive way of just putting scope rings and an angle mount together, but perhaps there's something I don't know about this thing.

Anyway, can you guys give me some insight on which route to take here? I'd really appreciate it.
