I was going to look for a stock A2 style upper, that I loved so much in the Corps, but now want to go with A4 style with flat top receiver and detachable carry handle (I may want to put an ACOG on it later).  Anybody know where I can find an upper that has a govt. profile 20" 1/7 chrome lined barrel and A2 FH?  It seems that everything is either 1/9 twist, HBAR, non-chrome lined or all of the above.

Uhhh Bushmaster sells that.  I just installed two up them.

Check with Bushmaster... or call up Eaglefirearms.net (they had mine in stock) and they can build the upper how you want it.... when they get back open for business.

Thanks for the fast replies, Looking at Eagle right now.  How much did it cost?  there are no prices or details on their site.

Bushmaster DOES have 1 in 7 twist 20" barrels, they just aren't listed on the site. I e-mailed them about it a while back.

I emailed Eagle, but got an auto reply back saying that they were closed till Oct. 11.  I don't want to buy direct from Bushmaster because their prices aren't competitive.  Troy, you are a bad man.  Just when I thaught I could go with stock handguards.

All main rifle parts are Bushmaster, including 20", 1:7 A2-profile barrel.  Daniel Defense FF handguards, Trijicon ACOG TA31A, ARMS #19S base, Harris Bipod on ARMS #32 mount, KAC QD sling swivel, CavArms C1 stock.

Hey Troy - I have been meaning to ask you... what kind of groups can you get with that setup?  I was thinking about buiding something similar... but was kinda leaning toward White Oak making me a precision barrel.

That is almost identical to my next build except mine probably won't have any BM parts. Sweet rifle though. What's up with muzzle device on there. What is it?

Looks to me like an A2/A1 flash hider with a plastic muzzle cap.

Is that for storage or is it left on for shooting? If it's left on, doesn't that screw up the flash hiding ability of the flash hider?

That reminds me I need to get the muzzle threaded:

Storage.  I forgot to remove it before the pic.  They are designed to be shot off, BTW.  The first round will go through the cap, but the gasses will blow it off.  The idea is to keep foreign matter out of your barrel when you're outdoors on patrol, etc.  You see them all the time in pics from Afghanistan and Iraq.  I mostly use them for storage, as cheap insurance that nothing gets in the bore between when I put the gun away and when I take it out again.

Cool. So where do you get them at and I suppose they only make them for A1\A2 length? (asking because I have Phantom on my M4gery)

Thanks

I had the same search when I was building my A2, all I saw was 1:9 HBAR all over the place with the occassional odd ball in 1:8 or something, and sometimes government profile, I searched for months before I finnaly found it at a gun show, Colt barrel in an RRA upper, complete except for bolt group and charging handle for $325 not bad considering colt barrels usually go for more than that on there own....

Ofcourse now that I have it built I see the right barrel all over the place, look at Fulton Armory they have FN barrels for $199.95, and that would actually be the most correct for your project, infact I'm pretty sure these are actual millitary over run barrels....

Then while your there pick up the carry handle if your going to se one....

Then add that to an upper reciever from ADCO for about $90, but I'm not sure if it has the correct markings on top, but I think Fultons does for a little more....

Subcontracted. FN can't sell anything they make, but their subs can sell anything they make.
