I got my Bushmaster 20" 1/7 Govt flat top upper from Chris at Eagle Firearms

I dont recall the exact price, but it was a nice price compared to Bushmaster full retail.

They dont advertise their prices, you have to email or call.  They are QUICK on answering emails.

All main rifle parts are Bushmaster, including 20", 1:7 A2-profile barrel.  Daniel Defense FF handguards, Trijicon ACOG TA31A, ARMS #19S base, Harris Bipod on ARMS #32 mount, KAC QD sling swivel, CavArms C1 stock.

The only time I've really shot it for accuracy was a typically windy day with a nasty crosswind (30-40 MPH gusts) in Reno.  I tried to shoot during the lulls, but there was always some wind.  5-shot groups averaged just under 3" at 200 yards, with one a hair over 2", and two that almost hit 4".  This is with the setup you see above (4X ACOG) and a special target I made for triangle ACOGs.  This was using 69gr Sierras, handloaded fairly warm.  Certainly not great by benchrest standards at around 1.5 MOA, but given the role of the rifle, it's plenty good enough for me.  Under conditions closer to ideal, it would be better, but then, I don't count on having ideal conditions if I were to ever need to use the rifle defensively anyway.

I was also able to ring the 400 yard gong pretty reliably, at around 8.5/10, but there was too much wind to hit the 500 yard gong more than once or twice out of 10 tries.

I could have elected to go with a match barrel for a bit more accuracy, but I prefer the light weight, reliability, and durability of a chrome-lined barrel, and given that I can reliably hit a 12"x12" gong at 400 yards in less-than-perfect conditions, I have all the accuracy I need.  5.56mm ammo simply doesn't perform well enough at ranges beyond that for me to worry about having more accuracy.

Storage.  I forgot to remove it before the pic.  They are designed to be shot off, BTW.  The first round will go through the cap, but the gasses will blow it off.  The idea is to keep foreign matter out of your barrel when you're outdoors on patrol, etc.  You see them all the time in pics from Afghanistan and Iraq.  I mostly use them for storage, as cheap insurance that nothing gets in the bore between when I put the gun away and when I take it out again.

You can get them from at least half of all AR15 vendors.  They'll cap a Phantom just fine, though due to the increased surface area, they're a bit harder to manually remove from a Phantom or Vortex.  I see them at gunshows for 50 cents each, and they can be had for half that in bulk.  I've seen them in black and red.
