There at Maryland Shooters read and use Chuck Santose's IBSZ method.
If you zero at 25 yds you will be way high in the 100-200 yard range. Zero as per Santose at 50 yds. |

Hey I got a question. After you're done sighting it in, what's the best way to make the front sight black again after you've scraped all the finish off with the needle nosed pliars?
 I hear the Marines do it by burning the front sight using their fallen enemy's black hearts as fuel.

Apply Cold Bluing back at the ranch, or…………..the field expedient method we used in the Army to blacken sights at the range was: Turn up the gas on a BIC lighter and invert the weapon. Hold the sights over the flame to blacken with the flames soot. Or, light a MRE plastic spoon on fire, hold the weapon inverted over that flame and blacken using the spoons soot. Note: Civilian spoons will not give out mil-spec soot.

 +1Or at least use some form of non-maring tool. You can even fully depress the FSP detent using a nail and rotate the FSP with a second nail. Even that old "Army" method will save you wear and tear on your front sight! |
