I'm building my first ar and have started buying my parts. I'm going with a stag arms stripped lower and a kit from Model 1 sales (assembled upper with stock and bolt carrier group). My question is in regard to the lower kit. I've heard good and bad about model 1's lower parts that come with the kit so I am going to buy a separate lower parts kit. I'm buying 3 stripped lowers so if the kit I get with the model 1 stuff is good I'll just use it in another ar. So, finally my question, which lower parts kit is the best for the value with minimal or no fitting. I'm not going to shoot any competitions with these rifle. I just want good reliable field rifles with a normal trigger without spending a ton of money. I'm not a gunsmith but I'm fairly handy, I wish to avoid major fitting of parts. Due to my inexperience with building ar's I probably won't know if one part is in spec and another is not. Any and all suggestions are appreciated.

I don't know what is the best lower parts kit, but I just build my first lower with a Rock River Arms LPK, and I couldn't be more pleased. It's about $58 with free shipping from their site.

Never a problem with the RRA or Bushmaster kits I have used. Either one should serve you well.

i used a J&T kit and the LPK from that was good.

I'd vote RRA LPK.... but all LPK's are gonna be hit and miss.

Rarely do companies make all of their small parts. Even companies such as Oly who claim to build everything in-house usually just limit themselves to barrels, receivers, BCG, grips, etc. but outsource all of the spring, pins, etc. Really though, it's not a big deal. The best deal I've found was the RRA kit from Adco @ $55. A buddy of mine's going to use one to build his lower, so we'll see how it turns out. My kit was from Oly and although it took a bit of work, it fits fine now. As long as the parts are in spec and function, who cares where they came from.
