I need a sling mount that goes over the buffer tube of my SW MP15X with collapsible stock. I see there are a few options in sling mounts and they are ones that: By policy I have to use a Vickers Combat 2 point Sling.

1.) Take apart the stock/buffer tube with tools.

2.) Slide on and attach without dis-assembly.

My friend has one that he needed to take the stock apart to add and says he likes it because he knows it won't come loose. Although the slide on ones probably won't ever come loose (loctite) I can see his point. What would you recommend?

I was looking at a Daniel Defense Burnside Loop, Blackhawk Sling adapter (that slides on) or a GG&G one. If it is a slide on one, but will stay on, that's fine too. I would like to get one that just slides on if possible, but if you think it isn't the most secure I'd like to know.

If you are looking for a single point sling mount, check out Tactical Link:  http://www.tacticallink.com/Z-360_Sling_Mount.html

It is a tight slip over the buffer tube but it can be done.  It will leave a small scratch where you slip it on.

I used these before the DD and Noveske mounts came out.

I think anything of quality won't "slip."

The benefit of those bolt-on two pieces and slip ons is for issued weapons and when you don't want to take apart your stuff.

The disadvantage in my eyes is just bulk and stock room, not slipping.

That being said, it only takes one wrench to take off your castle nut. That's a $6 to $20 tool. And some gunsmiths will do something that simple for free.

What do you use?

Just a suggestion:

If you still have the M4 style stock and a railed forend, would you consider just attaching the padded end through the slot on the stock and the adjustable end on a sling mount on the aft end of the rail?

ETA: The rifle would drape across the chest and keep the stock up by the shoulder.

DD has one that does not require disassembly:  https://danieldefense.com/mounts-1/sling/ez-carbine-qd-swivel-attachment-point.html

The tactical link one does lock on solidly but it is "bulky" and heavier than the Noveske and DD.

I now prefer the Noveske: http://noveskerifleworks.com/cgi-bin/imcart/display.cgi?item_id=rec-qdep&cat=164&page=1&search=&since=&status=

DD has an endplate also:  https://danieldefense.com/mounts-1/sling/rear-receiver-qd-swivel-attachment-point.html

As stated above the endplate quick detach sling mounts are easy enough to do it yourself.  Just remember to take care not to lose the rear take down detent and spring.  Also don't forget to re-stake your castle nut.

midwest industries has a single point sling mount that does not require removal of the buffer tube/castle nut. You just pull out intstead of squeezing the butt stock lever and slide it off the tube. The mount goes on over the tube and tightens with a set screw, the wrench is included. Mine has been through a couple of three day training sessions and is still tight.

Blackhawk Sling adapter
I had this one. Worked fine. PM me your address I'll mail it to you for free. It's a little scratched but I don't need it.
