I took the bait and bought 1000 rounds of "Surplus Israeli .223". $136 to my door. Its packed loose in an ammo can. The cases are very tarnished. The ammo is mixed. Some are headstamped TZZ with a year. I know its M193 because I have some IMI M193 from Botach. A lot of it is stamped WCC and a year. My guess is SS109, correct? There is a small percentage that I take to be tracer rounds. One has a T, Z, 7, 81 arranged evenly around the case. Another is T, Z, 22, 83. Another T, W, 7, 8. I think there are tracers that correspond to M193, and ones that correspond to SS109. Anyone know which is which? This ammo would definately not be for everyone. I consider all the ammo I buy plinking ammo, whether it be this or XM193. I go through a lot of ammo and like the full powered stuff. This kind of savings is dear to my heart. How much point of impact difference between M193 and SS109. If not too great, I probably won't even sort this stuff. Thanks for any info on the headstamps.

Thanks for the reminder. I forgot about Q3131A being the "same" as IMI. I have both on hand. The Q3131A is indeed headstamped WCC. The IMI boxed stuff is is marked M193 and comes in 30 round boxes. It is headstamped TZZ. So this mixed lot of surplus may not be as bad as I thought. At least both are 55g bullets. I still have not identified the oddballs. The TZZ and WCC are stamped as a word, radially around the case. The T, Z, 22, 83 and T, W, 7, 8 are not. Each character sits at 12:00, 3:00, 6:00. and 9:00. I just stepped outside and fired two in the dark.. They are not tracers. I had based this guess on another post about similar sounding ammo. That guy found an occasional tracer mixed in what he bought. If I get too curious I will pull a few of the odd marked loads and weigh the bullets.
