I am in the process of piecing together my first build and need some advice on BUIS...

I definitely want flip up front and rear sights.  I will want the capability of putting in a tritium front sight post or get one already installed.

My first love were the GGG flip ups with the locking mechanism that prevents the sights from folding down.  Then someone told me a story of how they were running with their rifle in Iraq and the top of the gun hit something and bent the front sight because it didn't flex with the impact like a MAGPUL front sight may have.

Anyways, I just want to hear the whats and whys of your decisions on BUIS.  I really don't want to spend more than $200 on a set ATM but would like the ability to do a Tritium front post in the future.

Thanks for your input.

Out of all the BUIS I have tried I like the Matech one I picked up.  Granted its only a rear sight but its one of the only ones with elevation adjustment in it... its also the same one the marines use.. so I'm pretty sure they have been proven.

My bud has the troy ones...  I didn't like them becuase they are a pain to put up... at least his didn't spring up.... overall they were nice and the sight pictures was really good but you have to pay with them too much for me.

Troy on all mine (tried GG&G, Magul new, and like the Troy over the other 2) ... I am interested in trying a Matech on my SPR for the same reason as stated above, elevation adj.

Troy.

I had a couple GG&G rear sights, and the button release to fold them down was digging into the aluminum every time you folded them.  It got to where it was hard to use them.  I took 'em apart, lubed 'em up, smoothed everything out, and they started to gouge themselves again.  Maybe I had a couple "bad" ones?  GG&G makes good stuff, but I just had bad luck with these particular sights.

Anyway, switched to Troys, and they're like "buttah".....smooth, easy to fold, don't self-destruct, etc.  Since then, everything's been switched over to Troy.  If you don't have the loot for Troys, I'd go with the MBUIS.

JMHO, of course.

Just get the Troy, buy once cry once, upgrade to a Troy tritium front sight post later.

If you buy other brands now and then later change to a Troy it would be more expensive doing it that way.

Take a look at the Equipment Exchange section here you could find Troy at a good price, sometimes members here change their minds or change setups and sell new sights that they don't need.
